What you will do

Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role, you will provide technical expertise for the management of EH&S programs at Amgen. Perform duties for program design, development, and implementation. Recognized as a technical EH&S specialist within Amgen. Independently take actions with impact in the area of responsibility and programs.

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Ensure compliance with EH&S federal, state, and local regulations. Focused on Environmental Compliance requirements.

• Evaluate existing and new regulations’ impact on Amgen operations.

• Develop new programs and implement changes as necessary and provide recommendations to senior management.

• Primary contact for EH&S regulatory agencies and be recognized as a program liaison with external agencies.

• Prepare for and conduct inspections with agency representatives.

• Prepare responses notice of violations, proposed compliance orders, and cease and desist orders to ensure Amgen liability is minimized.

• Evaluate current and future operations to determine strategic and global initiatives regarding the development and implementation of EH&S programs.

• Assess EH&S practices to manage Amgen’s long-term liability for planning, acquisitions, etc.

• Make recommendations and provide resources for the development and implementation of EH&S training programs for Amgen staff.

• Implement & document procedures/policies for Amgen operations.

• Developing program changes necessary to support global business objectives.

• Analyze existing and future processes; assess the regulatory impact of future changes, and benchmark against industry standards to identify efficient solutions to reduce EH&S impacts upon operations.

• Design and implement programs for conducting periodic audits/inspections of Amgen operations.

• Provide recommendations on audit protocols and technical expertise for the internal audit program.

What we expect of you

We are all different, yet we all use our unique contributions to serve patients! The EH&S Mgr we seek is a collaborative individual contributor leader with these qualifications.

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree

OR

Master’s degree and 2 years of EH&S experience

OR

Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of EH&S experience

OR

Associate’s degree and 8 years of EH&S experience

Or

High school diploma / GED and 10 years of EH&S experience

Beyond that, additional preferred qualifications are:

• Academic degree in Engineering or Science.

• Strong technical proficiencies in the Environmental Compliance regulatory field and interacting with government agencies.

• Experience leading teams and/or supervising staff.

• Experience in the Pharmaceutical, Medical Device and/or Biotechnology industry.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software systems.

• Good technical & business writing skills and good communication and team skills.

• Program development and project management experience.
