Citizens Pricing & Profitability Sr Manager in Johnston, Rhode Island

Role Overview and Purpose:

The Pricing Profitability Senior Manager will support the Business Banking team by ensuring the implementation, maintenance, and communication of a comprehensive and compliant pricing and profitability framework. This role requires close collaboration with Relationship Managers (RMs), business line leadership, and internal support teams to manage key pricing models, platforms, and control-related matters.

Additionally, the Senior Manager will provide crucial support for the Precision Lender platform, assisting RMs with training and transactional support for pricing scenarios. This includes helping RMs understand the impact of current and proposed accounts on customer relationships, for both loans and deposits. The role aims to build confidence in the front-line RM sales team, enabling them to better position product solutions with customers or prospects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Pricing and Profitability Framework Management:

  • Ownership of Implementation Framework: Lead the business banking pricing and profitability implementation framework by coordinating with multiple partners (e.g., business line, finance, technology, risk). Translate and communicate pricing changes into procedures, flow diagrams, and financial calculations.

  • Post-Implementation Testing: Coordinate and perform post-implementation testing of pricing changes and profitability calculations. Identify issues and propose actionable solutions.

  • Precision Lender Platform Support:

  • RM Training and Support: Provide comprehensive training and ongoing transactional support to RMs on the Precision Lender platform. Assist RMs in understanding and calculating pricing scenarios, and how these impact customer relationships, considering both current and proposed accounts, balances, and pricing.

  • Product Positioning Confidence: Help build confidence within the RM sales team, empowering them to position product solutions more effectively with customers and prospects by leveraging the Precision Lender platform.

  • Vendor Management and Operational Oversight:

  • Vendor Performance Management: Manage vendor relationships, including performance monitoring, scorecards, and operational meetings. Identify and communicate operational issues and lead process improvement initiatives.

  • Project Management: Maintain project/initiative lists, monitor usage and invoices, and ensure alignment with strategic goals.

  • Data Analytics and Model Validation:

  • Data Analytics Collaboration: Partner with business line and regulatory teams to understand analytics needs. Work with IT and data teams to ensure consistency and accuracy in data sourcing and approach, aligned with established standards.

  • Profitability Modeling: Collaborate with model validation and risk teams on profitability modeling processes, assumptions, and calculations.

  • Strategic Projects and Initiatives:

  • Cross-functional Engagement: Actively engage in or support focused projects and initiatives within and across Business Banking, including interactions with external partners/stakeholders.

  • Ad Hoc Projects: Lead or participate in special projects as needed to support business objectives.

  • Reporting and Compliance Support:

  • Committee and Forum Preparation: Compile pricing committee and forum meeting materials, including data collation and distribution.

  • Management Reporting: Prepare and present management reports covering key findings, trends, and areas of note.

  • Audit and Exam Support: Provide support for internal audits, assessments, and external regulatory exams. Collect responsive materials and track requests, coordinating with Central Risk and testing functions.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

  • Financial Services Experience: 7+ years of experience in financial services, with exposure to risk management processes and procedures as well as funds transfer pricing and cost of funds

  • Quantitative Skills: 5+ years of experience in developing and implementing effective portfolio management routines, with a strong focus on monitoring KPIs, benchmarking performance, and identifying trends.

  • Technical Proficiency: Experience with data querying or programming languages (e.g., SQL, VBA, SAS, R, Python) is preferred.

  • Documentation and Calculation Accuracy: Strong attention to detail with experience in creating and reviewing documentation, procedures, and financial calculations.

  • Analytical Insight: Ability to derive actionable outcomes from analytical insights and effectively communicate findings to business leadership.

  • Problem-Solving Acumen: Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.

  • Time Management: Proven ability to prioritize competing assignments and thrive in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment.

  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Advanced MS Office Skills: Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).

Education/Certification:

Bachelor’s Degree: Required in business or a quantitative discipline (e.g., Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Finance).

Master’s Degree: Preferred in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Finance, Econometrics).

Hours and Work Schedule:

Work Schedule: 1-2 days in the office, 3-4 days remote.

Pay Transparency

The salary range for this position is $128,300 - $150,000 per year, plus an opportunity to earn an annual discretionary bonus. Actual pay is based on various factors including but not limited to the work location, relevant skills, and experience. ​
