Corteva Agriscience has an exciting opportunity for a Global Research Shipping Lead, based in Johnston, Iowa. 

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Global Research Shipping Lead to join our team. This role will be responsible for overseeing the end-to-end global shipping and logistics processes for our research seed products and equipment, with a focus on ensuring ease of global seed movement and compliance with relevant regulations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for coordinating a network of shipping and logistics professionals, coordinating seed movement activities across multiple countries, and ensuring that seed materials are delivered to research centers on time and in excellent condition.

As part of our team, you will play a critical role in facilitating the movement of seeds from where they are produced or stored to where they are needed, ensuring that they arrive in a timely and efficient manner while maintaining high quality standards.

Responsibilities - What You Will Do:

  • Serve as the overall lead for Research Seed Product Development (SPD) global seed and equipment shipping and receiving, ensuring industry-leading processes and procedures are proactively implemented to ensure ease of global movement

  • Implement and lead a global network of individuals with shipping and logistics responsibilities across sites, with a focus on implementation of standard process and procedures, timely and quality seed delivery, innovation, and operational excellence

  • Develop and implement global seed movement logistics strategies that optimize efficiency and reduce costs

  • Conduct regular audits and pre-mortem risk assessments to identify and mitigate possible challenges related to global seed movement, coordinate corrective action and root cause analysis as needed

  • Lead global training efforts for all shipping and receiving procedures

  • Partner with regional logistics contacts to ensure trusting relationships are maintained with regional government import/export officials for major shipping lanes

  • Resolve any shipping and logistics issues that arise, including delays, damages, and lost shipments, while ensuring compliance with relevant regulations

  • Implement standard process and procedures related to shipping protocols, container types, labeling, boxing methods, and consumables

  • Communicate timelines and site-specific shipping instructions with stakeholders to ensure seed is delivered in a timely fashion

  • Lead support and resolution efforts for shipping issues between sites, and investigate seed movement challenges and implement alternative seed movement strategies to ensure ease of global seed movement

  • Assist with the development and enhancement of enterprise software, including shipping, compliance, seed processing, and warehouse management systems

  • Implement standard reporting and visuals to track shipments and shipping metrics

  • Partner with Plant Pathology, Phytosanitary, and Compliance teams to ensure seed movement processes are aligned with import and export requirements

  • Partner with the Corteva Logistics team to ensure seed movement objectives are aligned with documentary requirements, carrier capacity and capabilities

  • Lead the seed consolidation process for international shipments, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and industry best practices

  • Stay up-to-date on changes to relevant regulations and industry best practices, and ensure that the company's global seed movement logistics strategies are updated accordingly

Qualifications

Requirements - What Skills You Need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Biological Sciences, or a related field

  • At least 8 years of experience in global shipping and logistics operations, with a focus on seed or agricultural products

  • Strong knowledge of global import/export regulations, including compliance with phytosanitary and plant pathology requirements

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to influence and drive results through others

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the ability to lead process improvement initiatives

  • Experience with internal enterprise shipping and compliance software systems is preferred

  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed

  • Ability to speak Spanish and/or Portuguese preferred
