POSITION SUMMARY

Prepares and serves meals and maintains kitchen area and equipment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare meals in accordance with menu plans.
  • Set up long-term dining room for meal, including hot water, preparing coffee, restocking supply of cups, clean counters and misc. equipment.
  • Dish and serve meals to residents and patients. Assist long term residents in cutting meats, buttering of bread, opening of packets and pouring beverages.
  • Set up hospital and resident room trays for distribution.
  • Distribute trays to hospital and residents in a timely manner, to appreciate areas.
  • Put away and organize inventory.
  • Wash and sanitize steam table and all other kitchen prep areas and equipment.
  • Maintain and clean cooking counter and various utensils used in food preparation and service.
  • Clean refrigerator and freezer to ensure that food is properly handled and stored.
  • Clean long term care dining room and employee dining room following meals.

Fill salt, pepper, and sugar containers, and condiment holders.

  • Sweep and mop kitchen daily to ensure sanitary conditions.
  • Participate in continuing education programs as appropriate and available.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

DEGREE OF LATITUDE

Work under direct supervision. Perform duties in accordance with established menu plans and policies and procedures and verbal instructions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

May work in hot and humid environment. Physical demands may include standing, stooping, and lifting of moderately heavy objects. Work may involve exposure to hot water and steam.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE Education

Ability to read, understands, and speaks English.

Special Knowledge or Skills

Has the ability to follow procedures and communicate with others. Some math ability to measure quantities and follow recipes. Has the ability to read and write. Has the ability to operate and maintain all kitchen equipment.
