Requirements: * U.S. Citizen or National or be lawfully permitted to the U.S. as a permanent resident or otherwise authorized to be employed * Males born after 12/31/59 to be registered with Selective Service * Combination of education, general and specialized experience to meet GS-6 to GS-7 level ****Full details for qualifications, education and experience required available online Duties: * Serves as a full assistant to the Handcrew Supervisor in the technical and administrative supervision of a work force of 10 to 20 persons. * Recognizes, reacts to, and communicates changes in predicted weather and fire behavior, topography and fuel types, and adapts planned strategies and tactics to identify and locate firelines, escape routes and safety zones. * Participates in planning and implementing work activities such as setting priorities, identifying objectives, coordinating resources, vehicles, supplies and equipment, developing job hazard analyses, and conducting job skill training. * Works with other resource managers in the development and implementation of prescribed burn plans. Executes prescribed burns commensurate with qualifications such as burn boss, firing boss or holding boss. * Participates with the supervisor in developing and implementing training programs (mandatory, formal and informal) to comply with policy and regulations. * Participates with the supervisor to manage assigned property by procuring and maintaining an inventory of tools and equipment to meet individual crew needs.
