Job Description Summary

The generator ITR engineer provides engineering and technical expertise for repairs / refurbishment and maintenance on generators (mostly H2-cooled). They will have the responsibility to follow engineering projects from the tendering phase to the final completion of execution. They shall have overall technical responsibility to support the sales organization during tendering and project management, field service, and workshop during project execution. The projects mainly involve inspection, overhaul, repairs, refurbishment, stator rewinding, rotor rewinding including supply of spares and consumable materials on generators in power plants. They may also have to make short visits to sites for inspection, data collection or to clarify technical issues with the customer or the field service personnel.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Overall technical responsibility for all types of generator service products such as : diagnostic inspection, overhaul, repair, refurbishment, modification, rewinding of stator and rotor, supply of spare parts and for providing technical documentation to support those activities.

• Technical definition of solutions that meet customer's requirements, GE’s specifications and industry standard.

• Specification of materials required for overhaul, repairs, rewinding of generators.

• Preparation of technical documents including work instructions and quality plan for overhauls, repairs, rewinding on generators.

• Vendor assessment.

• Liaise with GE Center of Excellence centers in Europe to arrange technical inputs.

• Providing tendering inputs, such as : scope, costs, deviations, time schedules, pre-bid technical clarification.

Required Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent

• Extensive experience on generators preferably in the following areas of activities :Engineering / technical, manufacturing, repairs, re-winding, diagnostic inspection and testing, overhauls

• Fluency in written and oral English communication

Desired Characteristics

• Proven track record in technical / engineering function in power generation service sector (with manufacturer, repair shop, utilities)

• Knowledgeable in computer based tools including AutoCAD, MS-Project

• Experience in carrying-out inspection and assessment on generators

• Analytical reasoning and problem solving skills

• Knowledge of high voltage winding insulation systems

• Knowledge of application of insulation materials
