Description

We are on the lookout for a Staff Accountant to join our team in JESSUP, Maryland. This role presents an opportunity to transition from a contract to a hiring position, offering a chance to be part of our dynamic team. As a Staff Accountant, you will be actively involved in maintaining financial records, participating in month-end processes, and assisting in various accounting procedures.

Responsibilities:

• Undertaking general accounting duties and other related tasks.

• Assisting in maintaining the general ledger and chart of accounts.

• Participating in the month-end close process, which includes updating corporate reporting systems.

• Conducting bank account reconciliations, verifying deposits, and handling inquiries from banks.

• Reconciling balance sheet accounts, including Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable, as required.

• Assisting auditors by providing necessary account information and documents for audits.

• Filing tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies.

• Preparing and inputting journal entries into the system.

• Assisting with customer collections, posting cash to Accounts Receivable, and processing credits/debits to customer accounts.

• Assisting the Accounting/Finance Department with special projects and other departmental requirements as needed.

Requirements • Must hold a minimum of 3 years of experience in an accounting role

• Proficiency in Bank Reconciliations, General Ledger, Journal Entries, and Month End Close procedures

• Demonstrated ability in using SAP for financial operations

• Experience in managing Fixed Asset Accounting and Fixed Asset Depreciation

• Knowledge of Sales Tax processes, Balance Sheet Reconciliation, and Account Reconciliation

• Familiarity with Epicor software would be advantageous

• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting

• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy in all tasks

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is preferred

• Certification such as CPA or CMA would be a plus.
