This is a full-time position, approximately 35 hours per week, with no prior optical experience or certification required---training is provided!
Key Responsibilities: Scribe/Technician Duties:
- Assist the optometrist with patient examinations and procedures.
- Perform preliminary tests such as visual acuity, tonometry, and lensometry.
- Administer eye drops and other medications as directed by the optometrist.
- Prepare patients for contact lens fittings and assist with insertion and removal.
- Educate patients on eye care, contact lens maintenance, and eyewear options.
- Maintain detailed and accurate patient records in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
- Clean and prepare examination rooms and maintain equipment.
- Order and manage inventory for the optometry clinic.

- Proficiency in using computer systems for scheduling, patient information entry, and billing.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a compassionate and professional demeanor.
- Basic knowledge of eye anatomy and medical terminology.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and a commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality.
- Ability to follow instructions from the optometrist and work effectively as part of a team.
- Experience in medical billing processes and insurance verification is a plus.
- Prior experience in a medical office or ophthalmology setting is preferred.
