BASIC FUNCTION:

This is a position of high responsibility requiring the incumbent to work independently and safely. This person will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical equipment, welders, AC/DC motors, production machinery, CNC equipment and other types of installations.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Working from the direction of the Supervisor, this job requires the incumbent to support the preventative maintenance schedule, make unforeseen repairs, troubleshoot and install new or repaired equipment.

  • Performs a variety of electrical-trade functions in the installation, maintenance or repair of equipment for generating, distribution and/or utilization of electric energy in an establishment.

  • Work involves installing or repairing any of a variety of electrical equipment, such as generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units, conduit systems, or other transmission equipment; working from blueprints, drawings, layout or other specifications.

  • Locating and diagnosing trouble in the electrical system or equipment.

  • Communicate with the Supervisors, Plant Manager, and General Manager problems and estimated times for repairs.

  • Working standard computations relating to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment using a variety of electrician’s hand tools, measuring and testing instruments.

  • Must be willing to learn aspects of mechanical and electrical maintenance throughout the shop.

  • Performs other duties as directed by leaders and management.

  • Actively participate in department safety, demonstrate excellent safety practices and behaviors which conform to all Valmont safety policies and procedures.

SKILLS /QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Possess a State Electrical License and have a minimum of 3 years of experience as a plant maintenance electrician in a heavy manufacturing environment.

  • Certified to run forklifts, man-lifts, cranes and all manufacturing equipment.

  • Able to read and decipher blueprints, schematics manufacturer specification manuals, state and federal code books and references without assistance and use them to properly perform the required maintenance installations, or task.

  • A basic knowledge of PLC logic will be used to troubleshoot and or repair the CNC equipment.

  • Must be PC literate to enter repairs or inspections made and to receive machine or equipment data.

  • Ability to calculate formulas using basic mathematics and standard U.S. and Metric Measurements.

At the end of 90 Calendar days the candidate must be able to maintain an acceptable level of production, quality and attendance as determined by Management.
