WIB Youth Employment Program Retention Specialist (Grant Funded Position) Scope of Work: The responsibility of the Youth Employment Program Retention Specialist is to be the liaison between the youth and the worksite participating in the program. The Retention Specialist will ensure that the youth and worksite placement are appropriate with the intention of a positive and successful work experience from start to completion of the program. The Retention Specialist will also work closely with the WIB staff for payroll and any other administrative needs. Excellent time management and communication skills are essential to this position. The Youth Employment Program Retention Specialist shall report directly to the Executive Director and Youth Employment Program WIB Staff Lead. Specific responsibilities shall include but not be limited to the following: Program Design and Delivery Collaborate with internal staff and partner agencies Provide instruction to youth on work readiness Travel throughout the county as necessary Business Interface Act as a liaison with employers in resolving any work issues with youth employed at their site Conduct employer/business orientations and evaluations Develop business contracts for placement Retention Specialist- Youth Interface Ensure that the youth are assessed and placed appropriately Check-in with youth in person at their worksite a minimum of twice per week or as often as needed per direction of the Executive Director and/or Program WIB Staff Lead. In addition, contact via phone, mail, etc. may be expected on an as needed basis Assist with and actively participate in youth eligibility sessions, orientations, and wrap-up sessions Work closely with the youth to develop work readiness and possible job retention skills Arrange and problem-solve transportation issues and other barriers to employment stability Make referrals to appropriate community resources Ongoing job search assistance with youth focusing on a goal of unsubsidized employment for every participant Administrative Complete all reporting required by Executive Director and Program WIB Staff Lead Collect all youth time sheets in a timely fashion and review for completeness prior to submitting to the payroll department. All hours should be accurately calculated. All breaks should be taken and documented in correlation with the NYS Labor Laws. The dates should follow the appropriate pay period. Both worksite supervisor and youth signatures must be on the time sheets. Accurate and complete time sheets in every pay period are mandatory Deliver paychecks on a bi-weekly basis All other duties as assigned

Qualifications: A minimum of an Associate Degree, preferred academic background in education, business or human services Experience working with hard-to-serve youth preferred Advanced Computer literacy skills (Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word/Mail Merge, and Microsoft Outlook) Strong communication skills (verbal and written) Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task Experience in collaborative and creative work settings Pay rate: $18/hour.
