A Day in the Life

Sales representative II/ Territory managers are the key point of contact between an organization and its clients for answering queries, offering advice and introducing new products.

Endo Mechanical and Intelligent Devices (EMID) offering a complete line of innovative surgical products that includes open and laparoscopic staplers, ligation devices and access & hand instruments, plus powered stapling and intelligent surgical devices. The products are :

Power Stapling system

Access and Hand Instruments

Ligation devices

Laparascopic Surgery Products, Single Incision

Laparascopic Suturing devices

Wound Protectors

Solutions and Lubricants

Specimen Retrieval

Suction Irrigation

Surgical Staplers

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

Achieving secondary sales targets month on month, quarter on quarter ( How- be present in OTs at least 4-5 times a week, 5-6 quality sales calls every day, Key account management, key account profiles for top 5 accounts in the respective territory )

Achieving Focus product targets – both quantity and value – month on month ( How - OT presence- 4-5 times a week, minimum of 5-6 sales calls per day, collecting data on competitive product usage and types of surgeries performed, product demonstrations, proactive product evaluations )

Account Management: Driving sales targets for the assigned Class of Trade (COT)

Customer relationship management

Recommending and organizing marketing activities

Establishing long-term medical-scientific/strategic relationships with Key Opinion Leaders(KOL’s) and with related major medical associations and academic Centers of Excellence (COE’s)

Acting as a medical-scientific expert between Covidien and the medical community through the communication of medical-scientific evidence-based data.

Organizing CME’s and other marketing activities as approved by the marketing team in conjunction with the Regional Managers.

Timely reporting of weekly reports and trackers for focus products.

SALES PROFESSIONAL CAREER STREAM: Typically sales professional individual contributors with direct sales responsibilities. May direct the work of other lower level sales professionals or manage sales processes and / or accounts involving multiple team members. The majority of time is spent establishing and maintaining customer relationships, developing new customer relationships, implementing sales strategies and closing sales.

Sells products and/or services to a group of clients and identifies new and potential customers.

Organizational Impact: Works to achieve individual sales targets within product area and/or account by selling products/ services, developing new accounts and/or expanding existing accounts.

Has a direct impact on achieving department’s sales results.

May help to set objectives or goals for individual or team accounts .

Works on larger, moderately complex accounts or have a small or medium-sized quota/territory.

Understands market landscape, marketing and pricing structure, more influence on pricing structures.

Works with sales, marketing and finance to structure complex contracts.

Innovation and Complexity: Makes adjustments or recommends enhancements in sales processes to solve problems or improve effectiveness of job area.

Recommends changes in account tactics to achieve sales goals .

Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.

Communication and Influence: May influence parties within own job function at an operational level.

Obtains or provides information requiring some explanation or interpretation .

Communicates with external customers and / or vendors, involving negotiation and / or presentations in order to manage relationships and close sales.

Leadership and Talent Management: Normally receives general instructions on routine work, detailed instructions on new projects or assignments.

May provide guidance and assistance to entry level sales professionals and / or support employees.

Required Knowledge and Experience: Requires practical knowledge gained through experience of sales techniques and job area typically obtained through education combined with sales experience.

Bachelor in Science / BE in Biomedical Engineering

PG degree in Business Management is preferred

3-6 years of experience of handling a Concept selling based Therapy

Exceptional interpersonal skills.

Computer literacy including sound knowledge of the MS Office suite of software.

Willing to travel extensively

Ideally demonstrated success in a sales function of technical equipment

Nice to Have

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills: Good verbal communicator and presenter

Professional presentation and "Presence"

Can work autonomously but is also a team player

Self motivated and positive

Outgoing and friendly: Enthusiastic, energetic

“Can do” attitude

Ability to quickly establish credibility with all levels of customer base

Good time manager: Well organized, able to set and reset priorities

Willingness to learn, especially technical information

Strong Interpersonal skills, with focused People/Customer/Result orientation

Strong grasp on the market and understanding around the complexities, competition, customer preferences etc

Ability to prioritize and execute as per the needs of the business and the current set of challenges

Strong analytical skills (to understand local markets and customer needs) in order to develop region specific plans, strategies and tactics.

Ability to quickly revector and improvise the business model if the current model is not yielding desired results
