Nutanix (NTNX) is looking for a motivated and results-oriented Manager, Systems Engineering to manage a team of Presales Systems Engineers as part of the sales organization to achieve revenue targets and ensure customer success. You’ll oversee the development and engagement of Systems Engineers who have responsibility for educating, consulting, assessing, architecting, and proposing Nutanix solutions with technical decision makers across all business segments. You’ll play an integral role in partnering with the Regional Director/s, sales, product, and engineering teams to bring the maximum value of our Nutanix solutions to market and manage escalations for our customers and partners.

About the Team

At Nutanix, you will be part of the US East Enterprise team, which consists of 45 team members spread across 14 states. This team comprises 6 managers and 39 system engineers who embody Nutanix's Cultural Principles by being hungry, humble, honest, and having heart. You will report to the Senior Director Systems Engineer and work in a remote setup. While the role is primarily remote, you will need to engage with customers and channel partner ecosystems, ensuring that you have a strong presence in the field. There are no specific office attendance requirements, but you will be expected to travel within the region, engaging with clients and partners.

The travel requirements for this role entail about 25% of your time spent visiting clients and partners within the region. This travel provides valuable face-to-face interactions, allowing you to build and maintain strong professional relationships while showcasing Nutanix solutions.

Your Role

  • Provide active coaching and talent development of SEs to enable each team member and ensure they meet sales targets, work on skills development goals​

  • Work with Talent Acquisition to help recruit and hire new SEs into the respective territory​

  • Support SEs in drafting assessments, preparing complex product specifications, installation of custom solutions, and solving complex problems​

  • Provide cross-functional escalation in support of customer/partner satisfaction​

  • Establish and maintain a line of communication across the sales organization to ensure collaboration​

  • Assist staff in deal negotiations with end-users and/or channel partners (if applicable)​

  • Develop relationships with technical leadership at customers/partners within respective territory.

  • Deliver roadmap/vision presentations to technical leadership within respective territory.

  • Be able to support technical sales cycle as a player/coach as needed.

  • Responsible for managing team metrics, use skill criteria to hire, develop, and promote team members, and initiate in regular career conversations.

What You Will Bring

  • 3+ years of management experience or equivalent

  • 5-7+ years of experience in a Presales customer-facing technical role

  • Bachelor’s Degree, and working knowledge of Information Technology, or equivalent experience

  • Demonstrated leadership skills and guiding teams to hitting their goals

  • Excellent people management skills; high empathy and consideration for team morale and member’s career progression

  • Technical experience with virtualization technologies, data center consolidation, and/or server technologies will prepare you for our environment

  • Ability to assimilate new technologies and have proven customer-facing skills at both the C-level and line management level

  • Team player with a zealous drive

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to build trust and rapport with cross-functional partners

  • A structured thinker with excellent presentation and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to manage multiple projects, determine project urgency, and execute detailed action plans

  • Highest level of personal and professional ethics and integrity.

  • Collaborative and love belonging to a high-achieving sales team

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between USD $ 219,120 and USD $ 328,680 per year.

However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
