SUMMARY: *Responsible for engineering and operational oversight of a group of vessels, ensuring optimal service to our customers.Oversees a team consisting of Engineering and / or Operations Directors, Managers and Line Personnel. Significant impact on day-to-day operation and financial success.Oversees a fleet or group of vessels and supporting personnel and activities under the guidance of the responsible Vice President or Senior Management. Works with commercial and support teams to develop long and short-term fleet strategies. Provides recommendations on business unit personnel development and training, safety, emergency, and administrative management systems and executes duties based on approved plans. Responsible for P&L oversite of an assigned fleet. *GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: *Provide overall guidance, resources, support and development for the engineering and operations support teams within the framework of the Company Core Values, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion principles and Business Unit Safety Management System. Work with management team in developing and executing operational strategies to achieve the short- and long-term goals of the organization. Develop operational and commercial budgets in alignment with short term and strategic objectives and measure / report against same. Develop metrics and key performance indicators for continual improvement, support the development and deployment of progress reports and tools to measure against KPIs. Develop, communicate, and maintain trust relationships with customers, employees, labor partners and stakeholders to ensure the highest possible levels of customer service. Ensure compliance with all pertinent federal, state, and local regulations including ensuring alignment and support of ESG goals and objectives. Provide input and guidance for digitalization projects, ensuring prioritization of initiatives that support strategic objectives to reduce administrative burdens. Identify and pursue growth opportunities within the business line. * EDUCATION: *Bachelor's degree in marine transportation, marine engineering or a related field; or a combination of post high school and equal experience may be substituted. Graduated from a maritime academy or equivalent preferred. * EXPERIENCE: *8-10 years marine operations management experience with demonstrated experience within the disciplines of the maritime community i.e. (operations, engineering, petroleum and cargo transportation).At least 5 years in supporting roles (marine superintendent, Port Captain, Port Engineer) and 3 to 5 years in a managerial role with progressively increasing scope and responsibility. Experience in a role managing a budget is required. Must be familiar with the key concepts of ship and marine operations and fundamental commercial elements of shipping business. * Licensed mariner in a senior position (Chief Mate, 1stAssistant, Chief Engineer, or Master) preferred but may accept advanced training or experience in lieu of. Individual should have management level experience in a Marine Operations organization. * *TECHNICAL PROFICIENCY: *Proficient with Microsoft office products, including Word, Outlook, Excel and SharePoint. Proficient in complex problem-solving using analysis, technical and organizational expertise to develop creative innovative solutions.Needs to be technically proficient in basic, essential office technology skills. Working knowledge of vessel management systems technologies including such products as Nautical System, HELM, VOYCES, Veson, etcis required.Experience with vessel automation integration of IT, OT and data analyticsis preferred. *COMPETENCIES: *Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal/external business partners. Ability to evaluate process effectiveness and develop change or alternatives. Ability to prepare, monitor and administer budgets, as well as the ability to perform financial analysis. Ability to function effectively with, or as part of a team. Ability to effectively manage projects that may vary in nature and scope. Ability to identify and/or document existing and new trend, as well as evaluate and predict their impact on the organization. Ability to adapt to changing work demands. Ability to prioritize, organize and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously. Ability to perform accurately in a detail-oriented environment. Ability to gather, interpret, report and/or edit information. Ability to manage employee and client relationships to achieve specific goals for generating and maintaining sales of products and services. Knowledge of federal and state marine safety, health and environmental regulations. Knowledge of training methodology and the ability to develop and provide technical/operational training to others.* OTHER: *Certifications in commercial operations (chartering) or advanced operational certificationshighly desirable. *JOB SCOPE: *Position impacts multiple business units/segments.* WORKING CONDITIONS: *Works both inside an office environment and also outside in conditions of both high and low temperatures. May be exposed to odors, dust, dirt, mechanical hazards, high noise levels and potentially dangerous equipment. Must be able to crouch and stoop to get into areas with restricted headroom and be able to climb ladders.
