Job Title: Maintenance Electrician

Job Description

As a Maintenance Electrician, you will troubleshoot and repair production equipment, facilities, and electrical systems. You will be responsible for inspecting and performing preventive maintenance on plant electrical systems, machinery, and equipment to minimize downtime. This role involves installing new equipment, rebuilding or fabricating parts, reviewing work orders, and maintaining inventory of tools and parts. You will work closely with engineers and train line mechanics on electrical and electronic equipment maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair production equipment, facilities, and electrical systems; respond to emergency calls.

  • Inspect and perform preventive maintenance on plant electrical systems, machinery, and equipment to minimize downtime.

  • Install new equipment, rebuild and/or fabricate parts using hand and other machine tools.

  • Review work orders for repair and maintenance of machinery and electrical equipment; estimate material requirements and replace defective parts as needed.

  • Analyze electrical and other operations problems and take corrective action; report unsafe equipment, machinery, and practices.

  • Maintain inventory of tools, parts, repair supplies, and other materials; obtain quotes for replacement parts and prepare requisitions.

  • Work with engineers to install new equipment, set up new lines, and redesign existing production lines.

  • Install and repair electrical wiring, fixtures, and equipment; measure, cut, and bend wire and conduit; replace faulty electrical components.

  • Install PLCs, controls, and instrumentation; stay current with new technologies and train mechanics.

  • Install, repair, calibrate, service, and replace electronic devices and systems.

  • Train line mechanics in maintenance and repair of electrical and electronic equipment; lead day-to-day responsibilities or special projects.

  • Prepare reports and maintain records of purchases, daily activities, work orders, and preventive maintenance.

  • Perform all work in accordance with quality and safety guidelines and procedures.

  • Safely clean up and dispose of hazardous materials and accumulate hazardous waste generated during maintenance activities.

Essential Skills

  • Strong electrical troubleshooting skills.

  • Experience with 24V systems, schematics, and automation.

  • Proficiency with AC/DC motors, controllers, VFDs, and MCCs.

  • Working knowledge of PLCs and their operation.

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and engineering documents.

  • Experience with running conduit and pulling wire.

  • Ability to install and maintain process instrumentation including sensors, transmitters, controllers, and final control elements.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Lean manufacturing experience is a plus.

  • Instrumentation experience is a plus (must be willing to learn).

  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to work with hands and various tools.

  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.

  • Strong organizational skills with good written and oral communication.

  • Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Willingness to work overtime as required.

Work Environment

Work in an industrial environment that is non-temperature controlled. The facility can be dirty, dusty, and you will be around chemicals. The environment is better regulated with fans and heaters during the winter.
