We are seeking a Health and Safety Program Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing programs to protect employees’ health and safety and promote environmental compliance. This role involves ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, conducting inspections and audits, delivering training programs, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to foster a safety and environmental responsibility culture. The candidate should have a strong understanding of health and safety best practices, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects effectively.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Create a culture of Safety for our people by overseeing the development of policies and programs meant to mitigate organizational impact on the environment or protect employees from health and safety risks found in the organization.

  • Establish guidelines governing the collection and maintenance of employee training records, health/safety manuals or handbooks, incident/accident reports, or other documentation.

  • Audits facilities or processes to identify weaknesses or risks and proactively develops and implements corrective actions.

  • Ensures appropriate investigation of and response to accidents, injuries, and near misses, including identifying root causes and developing corrective actions to mitigate recurrence.

  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, or local statutes or regulations, including OSHA, conducting employee training as required.

  • Oversee Safety Committee program

Additional Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Create a culture of Safety for our people by maintaining the company’s safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OHSA) rules and regulations.

  • Plan and implement programs to train managers and employees in work site safety practices, injury prevention, fire prevention, and correct handling techniques for chemicals, toxins, equipment, and other safety-related items.

  • Inspect company facilities and projects to detect existing or potential accidents and health hazards, determine corrective or preventative measures where indicated, and follow up to ensure measures have been implemented.

  • Handle all OSHA-related issues such as inspections, yearly reports, job site posters, citations, hearings, etc. Performs field safety audits to ensure compliance with all OSHA, State, Local, and company safety rules and regulations.

  • Compile the monthly safety tracking data report for management. Produces other safety reports as needed.

  • Complete all accident/injury/incident reporting and perform investigations to determine cause and possible preventive measures for future work of a similar nature.

  • Further investigates all injury claims to protect the company from fraudulent worker compensation claims.

  • Make corrective action recommendations to upper management concerning safety and health issues that may affect the company.

  • Regularly reviews worker compensation claims data for possible employer modification rate adjustments.

  • Manage the transitional return to work program for injured workers.

  • Compile and submit accident and yearly reports required by regulatory agencies.
