Consumers Energy Intern/Co-Op - Corporate Security in JACKSON, Michigan

Join the diverse and dynamic team that powers Michigan's largest energy provider and one of the nation's largest gas and electric combination utilities. Consumers Energy services 6.8 million of Michigan's 10 million residents - caring for our friends and neighbors in all 68 Lower Peninsula counties. We embrace a cleaner and leaner utility vision focused on eliminating energy waste and adding renewable energy from sources such as wind and solar.

Why should you join our team?

The Security Internship Program is geared toward current college students who have a passion for cyber and physical security and an interest in Consumers Energy and the energy industry. The Security Internship Program at Consumers Energy is a key component of realizing the Security organization’s vision of “A World Class Security Program Built at the Best Place to Work in Michigan”.

What you will do:

Current college students of all levels will work as part of a larger team to provide services and support for cyber security, security engineering and physical security activities. Cyber security roles are technical in nature and involve either deploying new security technologies or using our existing tools and processes to detect and respond to security incidents. Security engineering roles build and maintain new security platforms, capabilities and solutions, and set enterprise security standards to ensure projects adhere to them. Physical security roles work with our field investigators in a variety of capacities responding to incidents, conducting investigations and completing small projects. The work will be challenging, equivalent to an entry level role, but in a collaborative team environment where you can learn from industry leaders.

In addition to working alongside full time employees carrying out the Security strategy for Consumers Energy, Security Interns will have the option to participate in several additional events within the program, including intern networking events, company tours and the consistently top-ranked event, the Intern Competition.
