Ithaca College ASSISTANT DIRECTOR, DONOR RELATIONS in Ithaca, New York

Job Summary:

Manage the donor-funded scholarship process, working in tandem with Student Financial Services, Financial Services, and representatives from across campus to ensure accurate and timely processing of awards. Coordinate donor communications, to include donor impact stories, receipting and appropriate stewardship with the intent to acquire, retain, upgrade, and engage the donor base.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage the donor-funded scholarship process in collaboration with the Office of Student Financial Services, and representatives from each dean's office to ensure proper awarding to honor the donor-intended purpose of the funds. Maintain scholarship data within the CRM database to include recording correspondence, beneficiaries, and stewards.

  • Correspond with donors regarding donor established funds to include annual endowment and restricted fund reports, notification of scholarship recipients and thank you letters from students. Work with gift officers in to schedule meetings between donors, prospects, and scholarship recipients. Prepare scholarship recipients for the meetings.

  • Manage the process whereby students write thank-you letters or record ThankView videos to donors who fund or are otherwise associated with scholarships. Request correspondence from students, assist students as required, and review submissions.

  • Draft new fund and gift agreements, working with the director and prospect managers. Track the progress of agreements, from requests to completion. Ensure allocations are updated with proper coding and information to ensure stewardship of the funds.

  • Serve as the Development team’s primary liaison with Marketing & Communications to develop donor impact stories, external mailings, impact reports, proposals, etc.

  • Ensure proper documentation of interactions with donors in CRM database.

  • Serve as the main contact for Ithaca College gift receipts for donors, answering inquiries, following up on requests, and ensuring gift modifications are processed if requested.

  • Manage the memorial and honorary gifts process of communicating with the appropriate family member or other contacts. Assist family members to identify the appropriate means to pay tribute to a deceased alumna/us, parent, or friend of Ithaca College.

  • Participate in budget proposal preparation in conjunction with the AVP of Development.

  • Assist with providing support to ensure consistent stewardship, engagement, branding and messaging for programs such as the Founder’s Circle, Blue & Gold Society and the Friends of Ithaca College in cooperation with the associated staff members assigned to those programs.

  • Assist with prospect and volunteer managers to recruit volunteers to assist with events as necessary. Work in tandem with the regional events program and regional volunteers as appropriate.

  • Participate in and support other events sponsored by the Advancement Division.

  • Develop and demonstrate a multicultural awareness and contribute to cultivating an inclusive, diverse and respectful College community. Demonstrate civil and inclusive behavior when interacting with staff, faculty, students and visitors to the College. Promote a flexible, collaborative and inclusive work and living environment and engage in educational opportunities to increase awareness and understanding of diversity and inclusion.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and a minimum of two years' experience in development, alumni relations, or related field; ability to work independently, excellent attention to detail, self-motivated, strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills and the ability to effectively work and interact respectfully within a diverse and inclusive environment; ability to plan, develop and implement activities, programs and special events; experience maintaining and reconciling office and events budgets; flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and travel; strong working knowledge of various word processing, spreadsheet, and database software applications are required. Experience working in a college or university setting is preferred.

This position is 37.5 hours per week, 52 weeks per year.

Hiring Rate:

$58,500.00 commensurate with qualifications and experience.
