Amazon Corporate Counsel, WW Operations in Istanbul, Turkey

Description

We are looking for an experienced Turkish-speaking Attorney to support Amazon’s rapidly growing operations in Turkey. This is an exciting opportunity for self-motivated lawyers who love the idea of solving for complex problems in a startup environment.

Key job responsibilities

As the Corporate Counsel for WW Operations, you will serve as the primary lawyer supporting the fulfillment and logistics business teams in Turkey.

• Provide legal counsel on varied areas of law including environment, health and safety, diversity, compliance, transportation and sustainability.

• Partner closely with business, compliance, finance, HR, PR, technology, wider legal team, and Public Policy on diverse issues and projects.

• Interact with regulators as required and strategize on pre-litigation disputes.

• Monitor and publish regulatory changes, collaborating with internal teams to ensure compliance.

• Conduct periodic trainings for supported teams.

This is an individual contributor position and some domestic and international travel may be required.

About the team

You will be part of a team which encourages having candid conversations, bringing new ideas and having fun while working hard. Though this is a Turkey specific role, you will also engage with global counterparts from WW ops team to collaborate on impactful projects.

Basic Qualifications

• Strong academic qualifications with at least 5 years of post-qualification legal experience at a law firm or in-house counsel role

• Licensed to practice Law in Turkey, or a common law jurisdiction

• Fluent Turkish

• Excellent English, both spoken and written

Preferred Qualifications

• A mix of law firm and in-house experience a plus

• Ability to demonstrate sound judgment even in ambiguous situations

• Ability to work independently while being able to contribute successfully to cross-functional teams

• Excellent organizational skills, ability to manage multiple projects at once, follow through and meet deadlines

• Strong written and oral communication skills
