Vistra Environmental Specialist Associate in Irving, Texas

Job Summary

This position is responsible for the development and upkeep of the permit documents of the Luminant surface mines to ensure Luminant Mining facilities and operations are in compliance with federal, state, and local environmental laws and regulations. This position also will be responsible for supporting permitting and compliance implementation associated with Luminant Mining facilities to ensure compliance with environmental regulations as well as Luminant standards.

Duties will include preparing a variety of narratives, diagrams, calculations, tables and detailed drawings for inclusion in surface mining permit applications. Additionally, the position will support and implement environmental special projects as required or needed by management to support business.

Job Description

Key Accountabilities

•Assist in the development of new mine permits, permit renewals and expansions to support the continuation of mining activities and permit revisions to support changes to the approved mine operations.

•Develop a collaborative partnership with mine site personnel in the interpretation of the contents of permit applications to ensure compliance with federal state and local environmental regulations.

•Interface with regulatory agency technical staff to consult or negotiate mine operation proposals in the permit.

•Must be self-motivated, perform well under pressure, and be able to sequence and prioritize tasks and organize and use resources productively to meet high pressure deadlines on multiple projects.

•Effectively communicate with peers and management. Communication may include written and oral technical presentations and periodic updates to peers, management, local, state, and federal regulatory agencies.

•Sequence and prioritize tasks while organizing the use of resources to anticipate problems and adjust accordingly.

•Occasional travel to Luminant generation facilities, mines, and other properties may be required. The incumbent must possess a dedication for personal safety and utilize safe work practices.

Education, Experience, & Skill Requirements

•Knowledge of and/or ability to use data mining, manipulation, and communication tools, Excel, SharePoint, One Drive, Box, and Teams.

•Knowledge of Surface Modeling/Mapping/ Drafting programs a plus.

•Knowledge of environmental laws and regulations and willing and able to develop specialist-level knowledge of the same.

•Excellent organizational skills and ability to effectively manage multiple activities at one time.

•Strong interpersonal and excellent written and oral communication skills.

•Advanced computer skills including data mining and systems.

•High school diploma or equivalent.

•Experience gained through college degree programs and/or certifications is applicable to above skills.

•Quickly integrate with ES team and develop good working relationships with peers, site environmental technicians, and other Luminant personnel

•Rapidly learn role and assume responsibility for assigned projects and tasks once trained.

•Demonstrate flexibility and drive in supporting multiple projects with strict and sometimes changing deadlines.
