Amazon Technical Program Manager II, Ring Continuous Improvement Team in Irvine, California

Description

Amazon's Ring Continuous Improvement Team is growing and looking for a highly motivated cloud Technical Program Manager with DevOps knowledge to join our team and drive projects and programs across Ring's backend. You will help to build and manage our cloud programs and work on campaigns driving operational and technical improvement. You should be a technically experienced and innovative cloud and project professional who understands AWS, manage Agile programs, communicate to customers and stakeholders, and to be able to drive innovative process changes across multiple organizations and teams.

Key job responsibilities

This position will be responsible for:

· Owning sprint and program processes for one or two two-pizza teams.

· Developing program documentation, including driving requirements and change management

· Delivering results by working across multiple teams with stakeholders up to the VP level

· Supporting process improvement and control implementation projects in coordination with service teams

· Managing communications to service teams and stakeholders with program requirements and service impact

· Liaising between Ring leadership and Ring service teams to drive infrastructure and operational improvements

· Developing a working knowledge of the operational processes and controls in place that support Ring's backend

· Assist stakeholders with aligning standard operating procedures, controls, monitoring, and reporting with the goal of improving operations, and managing technical and program risks

· Innovation of mechanisms to better meet business processes and compliance requirements

· Handle ambiguity by asking clarifying questions to a team of engineers.

A day in the life

You begin your day by driving a DSU, then meet with engineers and stakeholders for your programs. You'll be accountable for driving technical discussion and documenting decisions from these meetings. You'll be responsive to Slack throughout the day, dealing with problems as they arise. You'll drive a sprint planning or backlog grooming meeting once a week, making sure your team's program deliverables stay on track.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience

  • 3+ years of technical product or program management experience

  • 3+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experience

  • Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules

  • 3+ years working with cloud computing, including knowledge of AWS products.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in driving programs and/or participating in technical assessments across a large cloud organization (1m+ MAUs)

  • An in-depth understanding of cloud computing services/deployment architecture.

  • A record of delivery of large IT process improvement projects with technology processes and/or major tech companies.

  • A strong understanding of software development lifecycles and modern transaction processing environments.

  • 2+ years of experience with Scrum, Kanban, and/or SAFe Agile methodologies.

  • Hands-on experience working successfully in a very fast-paced, rapidly evolving, results-oriented environment.

  • Strong bias for action with ability to prioritize, multi-task, and meet deadlines.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $101,700/year in our lowest geographic market up to $197,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
