Job Summary

Based in Irvine, CA

Skyworks is seeking a motivated Senior Principal Engineer to join our Technology and Manufacturing Group (TMG) to take a pivotal role in various advanced RF and mmWave technology developments. The position will report to Senior Director of Engineering, Head of Strategic Initiatives and Programs and will drive innovation across multiple technology verticals to enable product performance roadmaps. We are looking for a hands-on individual with proven experience in technology execution, who thrives operating in a dynamic environment and is passionate about applying creative cross-disciplinary cutting-edge technology solutions to push the boundaries of product performance.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Project Ownership

  • Work on multiple problems in RF and wireless circuits.

  • Own and drive execution of complex multi-disciplinary technology development projects.

  • Work closely with technology leaders in various verticals of the business.

  • Stay up to date with latest industry technology roadmaps and provide insight to internal teams.

  • Work with suppliers and customers and stay up to date with their development roadmaps.

    Hands-On Problem Solving

  • Understand and develop various technology and product specifications.

  • Design, analyze, and run simulations to verify expected performance of devices, circuits, and systems, including passive devices, resonators, filters, amplifiers, and RF modules.

  • Apply the scientific method and fundamentals of physics, electromagnetism, RFIC, and microwave to offer solutions to multidisciplinary problems.

  • Think outside of the box and provide creative solutions to challenging problems despite limited information upfront.

    IP Development

  • Contribute to intellectual property and inventions that differentiates company’s technology and enables continuous innovation in products.

  • File invention disclosures and work on patent applications.

    General responsibilities

  • Document results and present to various internal teams.

  • Prioritizes conflicting needs, handle matters expeditiously and proactively.

  • Follow through on projects to successful completion, often with deadline pressures.

  • High level of integrity, discretion, professionalism, and commitment to maintain confidentiality.

  • Ability and willingness to travel globally for up to 10% of the time.

Qualifications

  • Strong background in physics, electromagnetics, RFIC, and communication systems.

  • Proven RFFE R&D experience.

  • Practical experience with product test, lab measurements, and characterization equipment.

  • Experiences of EM and circuit simulation tools such as HFSS, ADS, Cadence.

  • Knowledge of semiconductor devices and technology, such as HBT, CMOS, SOI, IPD.

  • BS degree in Engineer and minimum 15 years of experience

    The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is currently USD $136,800 - $271,500 per year . Starting base pay will depend on relevant experience and skills, training and education, business needs, market demands, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location.
