The purpose of Commercial Special Assets it to help the Bank achieve its goal of proactive problem credit management. The Bank strives to rehabilitate problem credits wherever possible. The work is dynamic and you will gain exposure to all types of commercial loan products. Some of these products are Commercial Real Estate loans, Construction loans, SBA 504 loans, Real Estate Term Loans, C and I business loans, Revolving Line of Credit, Asset Based Loans, etc. This group does not handle any consumer loans.

We are accepting applications for a Loan Workout Officer to join the team. The person will need to be living in the state of California and have the ability to work fully remote.

Responsibilities:

  • Collects and resolves problems on troubled loans.

  • Secures collateral, equity or assets of the borrower to preserve the loan principal, gathers interest and prevents the loan from being placed on non-accrual and prevents or limits losses.

  • Responsible for the workout of adversely graded loans through the restructuring of debt, negotiation of settlement agreements, pursuit of appropriate legal action and/or the liquidation of collateral.

  • Liquidates real estate or other assets as necessary and/or manages properties or other assets owned by bank.

  • Reviews lender liability issues to avoid lawsuits and keep legal expenses under control.

  • Develops good working relationships with internal and external industry contacts. Maintains knowledge of laws, regulations, internal policies and procedures appropriate to the position.

  • Provides regular reporting for management, executive management, Credit Examination Department, etc. to understand the status of the troubled credit.

  • On specific credits that are more complex you will be assigned a mentor to assist you and provide guidance.

  • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications:

  • Requires a Bachelors in Finance, Business, Accounting or related field

  • 4+ years commercial/business loans, lending laws, credit analysis, credit monitoring, loan workouts, lending or other directly related experience.

  • A combination of education and experience may meet qualifications.

  • Working knowledge of commercial/business lending, lending law, bankruptcy law and cash flow analysis.

  • Working knowledge of collection processes and practices.

  • Solid interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written required.

  • Solid analyses, negation and problem resolution skills.

  • Ability to work individually and as part of a team.

  • Ability to identify, research, coordinate and resolve issues.

  • Must be organized, detail-oriented and able to multi-task.

  • Strong computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

  • Knowledge of Risk Grading a plus

    Salary:

  • This position is eligible to earn a base salary in the range of $90,000 - $110,000 annually/hourly depending on job-related factors such as level of experience and location

    Work Environment:

    This group works remotely from home. The candidate should ideally be located somewhere in the State of California since most of the portfolio that we handle is governed by California State Law. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. This team spends a great deal of their day on Teams calls and engages with the team frequently.
