WSP USA Lead Process Engineer - Clean Fuels in Irvine, California

This Opportunity

To expand WSP’s vision for clean fuels, hydrogen, and carbon capture, WSP is currently initiating a search for a Lead Process Engineer - Clean Fuels located in one of our Houston, Salt Lake City, or Los Angeles offices to have oversight of our process engineering team as part of a growing organization that supports addressing our client’s objectives and challenges. This includes cross-disciplinary involvement in projects with our broader Earth & Environment and Energy Teams. Our customers are varied providing an opportunity to commit your expertise to support broad decarbonization efforts within the United States. This is a great opportunity for a motivated candidate to transfer relevant experience from a traditional market area such as refining into the renewable arena.

Your Impact

  • Remain current in latest decarbonization technology offerings.

  • Track record of performing feasibility and optimization studies, process simulations and heat and material balances, process equipment sizing, process data for instrument and mechanical data sheets, hydraulic piping line sizing and other philosophies and reports

  • Defines and selects team required to deliver scope of work.

  • Effectively leads project team comprised of multi‐discipline / multi‐location members.

  • Sets clear objectives for the project team including scope, schedule, productivity and budget targets.

  • Capable of collaborating across WSP key sectors such as transportation, water management, transmission and distribution to support holistic green hydrogen project development for our customers.

  • Active on collaborative development of value propositions proposals and new business acquisition.

  • Provide mentoring to junior employees.

  • Perform Project Management duties as required.

  • Perform audits and troubleshooting of existing hydrogen production infrastructure for consideration for decarbonization.

  • Comply with regulatory requirements pertaining to the data integrity, documentation, procedures, training, monitoring systems, and record compliance and retention.

  • Interact with regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and clients in a confident and professional manner.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, or closely related discipline.

  • 10+ years of applicable experience

  • Eager to engage potential customers to effectively find solutions to their challenges.

  • Demonstrated PM experience leading small and medium projects or portions of large projects – feasibility through front end engineering scopes and detailed engineering including site assignments.

  • Relevant consulting or operating experience in a setting such as oil & gas, industrial production, or utilities. We are open to candidates with varied industrial backgrounds with the right experience, interest, and engagement.

  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

  • Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.

  • Periodic domestic travel is required.

  • We will consider flexible work arrangements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in one or more of the following areas - electrolysis, carbon capture, ammonia, or other e-fuels

Compensation: Expected Salary (California): $133,400 - $198,220

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
