BorgWarner Inc. Manager, Product Line in Irapuato, Mexico

The Product Line Manager is fully responsible for and expected to meet and exceed customer satisfaction expectations (quality and delivery), employee satisfaction expectations (safety and morale) and shareholder satisfaction expectations (DivOp & Economic Value). The Product Line Manager, in conjunction with the Sales and Engineering groups, develops and successfully implements business plans and strategies in support of new products and new product launches. The Product Line Manager resolves related business issues and effectively develops personnel in a single location.

  • Fully Responsible for existing and new programs prioritizing SAFETY, QUALITY, DELIVERY, COST & IMPROVEMENT.

  • Secure launches from RFQ to series production

  • Responsible for financial targets (P&L metrics) for the product line.

  • Total quality (operational, product, etc.)

  • Lead, motivate, develop and empowerment of employees.

  • Secure future business

  • Develop manufacturing strategies that provides for maximum operational flexibility with minimal investments.

  • Develops facility to fulfil manufacturing requirements.

  • Develop labor strategies that provides for maximum operational flexibility and cost effectiveness.

  • Plan and effectively manage manufacturing, manufacturing engineering, quality and maintenance resources through cross-functional team processes.

  • Promote and support a teamwork approach to achieving goals with particular emphasis on AQP activities.

  • Ensure open and effective communications exist at all levels within Irapuato and as necessary, with other BorgWarner divisions and technical centers groups.

  • Promote and support workforce diversity.

  • Maintain a work environment where third party intervention is not required or desired.

  • Continually improve health, safety and the environment.

  • Promote and implement “Best Practice” manufacturing techniques (e.g. Visual Factory, JIT, Lean Manufacturing).

  • Actively participate in engineering improvements.

  • Actively promotes and participates in cost reduction projects.

  • Direct and implement M/Q Engineering activities (prototype, launch & current product).

  • Coordinate effective and smooth new program launches.

  • Identify, implement, and manage cost reduction programs.

  • Direct maintenance activities, such as PM and TPM.

  • Manage the day-to-day production inventory.

  • Continually improve throughput and labor efficiencies.

  • Improve first time quality (PPM) and reduce scrap in accordance with performance plan.

  • Develop a culture of good work ethic and process ownership among the workforce in all areas.

  • Continually reduce customer complaints. Utilize an effective “8-D” corrective action plan that ensures irreversible corrections and implement preventive actions as necessary.

  • Represent the plant at the customer’s location and develop total customer confidence.

  • Ensure the Performance Management process is done in a timely and effective manner throughout areas of responsibility.

  • Development of specific work procedures to minimize risks.

  • Training of employees on the procedures and enforcing their use.

  • Facilitating workplace inspections and closure of findings.

  • Facilitating employee involvement in developing, implementing and revising safety and health procedures.

  • Timely incident investigations and correction of root causes.

  • Participation / attendance at safety meetings and training.

  • Tracking of safety issues to closure.

  • Promotes and supports the use of problem solving and lean manufacturing tools

  • Ensures equipment and processes meet safety, ergonomic and labor requirements.

  • Supports and reinforces change management procedures.
