Job Title: Survey Crew ChiefJob Description

We are looking to hire a Survey Crew Chief to join our team in Vincennes. The Survey Crew Chief will conduct land title/ALTA surveys, boundary surveys, and ROW surveys for railroad layouts. Additionally, you will perform mine surveys (both under and above ground) and handle dirt quantity calculations for project sites. You will work alongside an Instrument Operator in a two-person crew and occasionally operate solo. You will utilize Trimble equipment including GPS base and rover units, VRS networks, Robotic total stations, Digital levels, TSC7 data collectors, and TBC processing software. The projects primarily involve industrial and manufacturing sites, including electric and gas lines for facilities, steam/chilled water lines, and coal mines. Our Construction Services team handles both pre-design and post-design surveys for various large clients and projects, including IU Health and a major pharmaceutical company in Indianapolis. Travel will be local to South Western Indiana, with minimal overnight stays. You must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of our Vincennes office, as most work is within an hour's radius.

Hard Skills

• 2+ years of professional experience as a Survey Crew Chief

• Experience performing construction layout surveys

• Experience with boundary surveys, topographic surveys, ALTA/Land title surveys, route surveys, ROW, commercial or highway staking

• Proficiency with Trimble equipment: GPS base and rover units, VRS networks, Robotic total stations, Digital levels, TSC7 data collectors, and TBC processing software

• Ability to submit to Drug Test, Background Check, and MVR check

Work Site

This is a fully on-site position in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Work Environment

You will work outside in the field on survey projects. You will go directly from home to the job site, providing a high level of autonomy. Office visits will be required for meetings with PMs and team members. Typical work hours start around 7:30 AM, with earlier starts in summer months, averaging 45-50 hours per week, and up to 55 hours during peak periods. A Saturday rotation requires working one Saturday per month, with schedules posted quarterly.
