Lilly Senior Director - IT Portfolio Management and Operations in Indianapolis, Indiana

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Director of Portfolio Mgmt. and Operations to lead and drive the Tech at Lilly LRL function. This role will be pivotal in aligning our IT initiatives with our R&D strategy to enhance our research and development capabilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong project management background, coupled with a deep understanding of R&D processes and a high degree of operational discipline.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Strategic Alignment: Develop and execute strategic plans that align IT initiatives with R&D goals to drive innovation and efficiency in the research and development processes.

  • Project Management Office (PMO): Establish and maintain a high-discipline PMO to oversee project execution, ensuring all projects are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget. Implement standardized project management methodologies and best practices.

  • Operational Excellence: Lead the development and implementation of operational processes and policies to enhance productivity, streamline operations, and reduce costs within the Tech at Lilly LRL function.

  • Finance and Portfolio Management: Oversee the financial planning and management of the Tech at Lilly LRL budget. Ensure effective portfolio management to prioritize and allocate resources to the most impactful projects.

  • Business Operations: Streamline business operations to support the R&D strategy, including process improvements, technology implementation, and performance optimization.

  • Talent Management: Build and lead a high-performing team, managing talent development processes. Develop talent strategies to attract, retain, and develop top IT and R&D talent.

  • Collaboration: Foster strong relationships with key stakeholders across R&D, IT, and other business units to ensure cohesive strategy execution and optimize resource allocation.

  • Performance Management: Define key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the effectiveness and efficiency of Tech at Lilly LRL initiatives. Regularly report on progress and make data-driven decisions to adjust strategies as needed.

  • Innovation: Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to identify opportunities for innovation and improvement within Tech at Lilly LRL.

What You Should Bring:

  • Project Management: Proven track record in establishing and managing a highly disciplined PMO. PMP certification is highly desirable.

  • Leadership: Exceptional leadership and team management skills with a demonstrated ability to build and lead high-performing teams.

  • Strategic Thinking: Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills with the ability to translate complex challenges into actionable plans.

  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex information to diverse audiences.

  • Collaboration: Strong collaborative skills with a track record of successfully working across functions and organizational levels.

Your Basic Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in information technology, computer science, business administration, or related field

  • 10+ years of experience in IT strategy and operations with a strong focus on R&D

Additional Preferences:

  • Ph.D. preferred

  • Pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry experience

  • Role located in Indianapolis, Indiana
