Job Description:

Primary Purpose of Role:

This role supports, negotiates, and implements assigned commodity strategies that strengthen the company’s supply chain for the growing Electric Vehicle (EV) business. This individual manages multiple projects, leads continuous improvement initiatives, and cultivates ongoing relationships with suppliers. This individual is well-versed with and adheres to a variety of Procurement / Global Supply Chain concepts, practices, and procedures. In addition, this person demonstrates cross-functional organizational savvy, exhibits initiative, and displays a wide degree of creativity and resourcefulness in decision making. This individual is action-oriented and drives for results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leads a cross-functional, commodity team in the development and implementation of strategies and goals for assigned commodities, in support of business objectives related to quality assurance, technology/new product development, risk mitigation, and total cost.

  • Leads efforts for supplier analysis and selection processes, make/buy, outsourcing, and transitions. Act as project manager in various types of continuation/product support projects.

  • Establishes sourcing strategies by proactively reviewing supplier performance and conducting supplier and part number rationalization and segmentation initiatives.

  • Develops and manages working relationships with both internal functions and suppliers to manage resolution of supplier issues.

  • Leads supplier negotiations in support of executing supply agreements and ensuring supplier’s conformance to company’s terms and conditions. Continuously monitors agreements and expectations. Partners closely with legal department in working contract language.

  • Develops implementation and transition plans to ensure sourcing benefits for the assigned commodities are fully realized.

  • Provides rigorous analysis of commodity spend data, market trends, and dynamics to prioritize and launch sourcing initiatives within designated spend categories.

  • Manages the supply chain by monitoring, reporting, and providing direction on issues which could affect quality, delivery, or pricing.

  • Presents to senior management procurement opportunities and associated analysis that are aligned with corporate strategic plans and cost reduction initiatives.

  • Mentors less experienced peers in sourcing strategies, managing commodity categories, further developing supplier relationships and more.

  • Adheres to corporate and procurement policies and procedures.

  • Evaluates and understands market conditions in order to develop global sourcing strategies to control costs. Build knowledge of the enterprise, processes and customers.

  • Work with cross functional areas in the development of sourcing activities.

  • Maintains a physical presence in the workplace.

Competencies and Behaviors Required:

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.

Preferred:

  • Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP)

  • Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM)

  • Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM)

  • Certified Professional in Supplier Diversity (CPSD)

  • Certified Six Sigma Green Belt

Experience

Required:

  • 7+ years’ of experience in the field or in a related area.

Travel Requirements

  • Up to 50%
