Position Brand Description:

The Warehouse Process/Automation Engineer is responsible for maintaining and continuously improving the Automated Storage and Retrieval System (ASRS) and Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV) fleet in the Indianapolis Device Assembly and Packaging (IDAP) Warehouse. This position requires technical leadership, engineering expertise, and cross functional collaboration.

Key Objectives / Deliverables:

  • Coordinate and lead continuous improvement projects, troubleshooting, and maintenance activities for warehouse systems

  • Drive lean principles to ensure efficient and effective processes are maintained

  • Work closely with business leaders to identify business needs

  • Lead multidisciplinary teams within manufacturing, quality, and other business units to effectively support robotic system to meet the demands of the business

  • Provide subject matter expertise for ASRS and AGV systems

  • Lead Root Cause investigations

  • Support validation actives such as process commissioning, qualification, and Computer System Validation (CSV)

  • Support development of system monitoring reports for reliability and business decisions

  • Ensure that new assets delivered to the site can be integrated into automated warehouse design and can be supported by site technical staff

  • Work effectively with global groups and external vendors

  • Define maintenance strategy including spare parts, AutoCAD and job plans

  • Be a champion for safety activities and a role model for diversity, ethics, and compliance

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in STEM discipline / Engineering / Computer Science / IT (preferred)

Minimum Requirements:

  • Ability to work in a safe manner to ensure the safety of self and others

  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills to be able to work effectively in a team-based environment

  • Responsible for leading by example in safety, working safely, and accountable for supporting all HSE Corporate and Site Goals

  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Experience with Robotic Systems and fundamental robotics concepts

  • Experience with PLCs and system HMIs

  • Experience with electrical and mechanical systems

Additional Preferences:

  • Previous experience as a process automation engineer

  • Previous experience maintaining and troubleshooting (AGVs, Conveyors, ASRS, Cranes, etc)

  • Pharmaceutical experience

  • Computer System Validation experience

  • Commissioning and Qualification experience

  • Experience with database systems and basic data query capability

  • Experience with system computer integration techniques / methods

  • Experience with network communication

  • Change management experience

  • Experience modeling data (Excel, PowerBI, etc)

Other Information:

  • 8 hour days, after-hour support

  • Occasional travel may be required for training, conferences, capital projects, etc
