Environmental Resources Management, Inc. Health and Safety Manager (Field Based) - R00022631 in Indianapolis, Indiana

ERM is hiring a Health and Safety Manager in Indianapolis, IN. In this critical role, you will be responsible for establishing, implementing, managing and continuously improving the environment, health and safety programs for the facility. The HandS Manager will have broad knowledge of HandS compliance programs and, where required, HandS specialty areas including Industrial Safety, Occupational Hygiene, Environmental Engineering, Safety Engineering, Risk Management, and Process Safety. This role will provide guidance in managing budgets to support outside services and operating expenses. The role includes strategic HandS planning as well as a tactical role for site-wide HandS systems, HandS regulations, and best practices. This is a full-time (40 hours/week), limited-term role for a duration of 6 months, renewable.

RESPONBILITIES:

  • Ensure that necessary HandS information is reported to local regulators and to stakeholders within the Clients Company.

  • Prepare and submit local, State, and other as required regulatory reports, ensuring site HandS Regulatory compliance.

  • Review and track investigations of injuries, illnesses, environmental releases, non-injury accidents and near-misses to ensure that they are effective, and that they identify and resolve root causes. Lead investigations into serious adverse events. Monitor and analyze HandS performance and initiate action to support or correct trends.

  • Provide timely, high-quality HandS technical support/training.

  • Design, conduct and oversee HandS training.

  • Carry out regular workplace inspections to monitor compliance with site rules, procedures, etc. Develop and manage an internal audit program to assess compliance with legal and company requirements and identify opportunities for improvement

  • Coordinate the completion of job safety analyses and risk assessments.

  • Establishment of site HandS policies, objectives, key performance indicators and targets that reflect local needs and alignment with the Clients long-term HandS strategy. Establish program to manage the sites different HandS risks and impacts, coordinated within an overall HandS management system.

  • Review change proposals (including capital projects and new product introductions) to identify potential HandS issues and participate in their resolution.

  • Maintain local HandS SOPs that effectively describe the sites HandS management system.

  • Champion a strong safety culture across the site and maximize personnel involvement in HandS-related activities.

  • Coordinate local business continuity, emergency response, and crisis management plans. Develop and test the plans with realistic scenarios.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelors degree in safety, occupational health, engineering, or related degree preferred.

  • 5 years relevant experience in HandS within RandD.

  • Pharmaceutical RandD experience is a plus.

  • Professional certification is a plus.

  • Demonstrated ability to provide detailed regulatory interpretation of federal and state OSHA regulations.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Valid drivers license and good driving record.
