Ford Motor Company Cloud Data Engineer in Indianapolis, Indiana

Data Engineer - To meet the growing needs of the mobility business, the CSE team is looking for a highly motivated, technology focused individual with a passion to work on a collaborative software delivery team to enable the creation and management of Data Products deployed to the Ford ecosystem. The position will be responsible for create, deliver, and support custom data products and enhance/expand capabilities that will provide the self-service experience to the business. The candidate for this position must be able to function in different roles within the team, from architect to high-skilled software developer and support engineer, to consultant and product evangelist.

  • Data modeling - the ability to permissively organize and model information in various data domains into ontologies that describe the classes, properties, relationships, enumeration, representations, instances of data.

  • Data architecture - the ability to design data products and data flows end to end leveraging models and systems available to us, including data products designed for managing and or distribution of data.

  • Data analytics enablement - the design of systems that enable analytics of various performance considerations and of various customer competences to account for the broad set of competences represented on the analytics side.

  • Participate in working sessions to gather customer requirements.

  • Perform software engineering using Test Driven Development (TDD), continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD)

  • Work in an agile software development environment using sprint/user story methodology.

  • Work with team members to establish best practices to maximize efficiency and minimize risk.

  • Interact and work closely with product managers to devise solutions and break them down into incremental production-ready user stories.

  • Identify opportunities for adopting new technologies to solve existing needs and predicting future challenges.

  • Use DevOps tools such as GitHub, SonarCube, CheckMarx, and FOSSA to deploy, improve and manage software.

  • Stay current on the latest technology and contribute to the technical direction of the company while keeping a customer-centric approach.

You'll have...

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or a closely related field of study.

  • 5+ years professional development experience in Java, Go, Python, or similar languages

  • 5+ years of analytics/data product development experience

  • 3+ years of Google cloud experience with solutions designed and implemented at production scale or similar

  • 3+ years of data modeling and architecture

Even better, you may have…

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or a closely related field of study.

  • Expertise in API related technologies such as JSON, REST, gRPC, GraphQL, Swagger, and Postman.

  • Knowledge about API design standards, patterns, and best-practices.

  • Experience helping troubleshoot application and performance issues.

  • Agile mindset.

  • Excellent communications skills - ability to engage in deep technical discussions with customers and peers and become a trusted technical advisor.

  • Critical thinking, decision-making and leadership aptitudes.

  • Strong analytical and good interpersonal skills.

  • Good organizational and problem-solving abilities.

  • In depth knowledge of software development methodologies, tools, standards and procedures for high quality software development.

This position is a range of salary grades 6-8.

Compensation will be determined according to experience and location.
