Our Advanced Analytics and Data Sciences organization is growing to support the entire Lilly enterprise, from Discovery to Development to Manufacturing and Commercialization of our medicines. To solve the complex problems of a global business and the ever-evolving data and analytics landscape, the organization generally requires advanced degrees in statistics, mathematics, econometrics, operations research and computer science. We are playing a leading role in transforming the way the company discovers and develops new treatments, identifies personalized treatment regimens, drives efficiency in our operations and optimizes our commercialization of new products. We are doing this with an emphasis on the areas of machine learning and artificial intelligence, natural language processing and other approaches to unstructured data, advanced mathematical and predictive modeling, visual analytics and more. How You Will Succeed:

  • Partner with business/research teams to identify, scope, and execute analytics efforts that answer business/scientific questions and deliver value to patients

  • Maintain a broad understanding of the pharmaceutical business and be fully engaged with business/research teams, bringing an objective voice to the table and facilitating decisions grounded in analytics

  • Collaborate with other analytics team members to review and provide feedback on the analytics being done, and be willing to seek feedback from other team members about your own work

  • Stay current with respect to data science methodology, to maintain proficiency in applying new and varied methods, and to be competent in justifying methods selected

  • Collaborate with others to design, develop and deploy enterprise-level analytics capabilities/solutions

Your Basic Qualifications:

  • M.S. or higher in Statistics, Econometrics, Operations Research, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or closely related field

  • At least three years of hands-on optimization or simulation experience post education

  • Proficiency with relevant programming languages (such as R, Python, SQL, Matlab, Java, C++, etc...)

What You Should Bring:

  • Deep and broad knowledge of optimization, simulation, and machine learning methods

  • Internal or external consulting experience

  • Agility and flexibility to work with very diverse problems and business partners

  • Ability to work with diverse data sources and data types

  • Self-management skills with a focus on results for timely and accurate completion of competing deliverables

  • Advanced knowledge of machine learning methods in combination with simulation and optimization

  • Proficiency with algebraic modeling languages such as Pyomo, JuMP, GAMS, or AIMS.

The Advanced Analytics and Data Sciences (AADS) team brings the power of data and advanced analytic capabilities such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, and predictive analytics to identify and solve high-value business questions. This team is leading the next-generation data environment to manage data as a strategic asset across the company, providing unprecedented insights and solutions to enable significant value transformation across the biopharma value chain.
