Job Description

The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is seeking two Resident Treatment Supervisors to join the team at the Independence Mental Health Institute (IMHI). These are full-time positions with opportunity for advancement, growth, and development.

The Resident Treatment Supervisors will be responsible for supervising and evaluating assigned staff members. The positions will work closely with their assigned ward's supervisory team to monitor, guide, coach, train, direct, and supervise the employees assigned to them. They will ensure adequate staffing for the assigned ward to meet minimum coverage requirements and provide necessary coverage for breaks. The Resident Treatment Supervisors will observe staff members, document their observations, and provide feedback and guidance to ensure compliance and improved effectiveness and efficiency. These positions will also train or retrain direct support staff in any area, as directed and appropriate, on HHS and IMHI policies, procedures, and protocols, and standards of practice of regulatory agencies. The successful candidates will maintain a valid Driver’s License and qualify to pass medications.

IMHI provides inpatient treatment and acute psychiatric services. The facility offers several services including individualized treatment plans and support for children and adolescent patients to continue their education. Individuals are encouraged to collaborate with staff members in formulating their own plan. Medication, group counseling, and activities therapies might be included as well. Minimum Qualification Requirements

Experience equal to two years of full-time work as a nursing or therapeutic assistant in a health care facility or other facility for the intellectually disabled, mentally ill, elderly, physically ill or disabled;

OR

an equivalent combination of education and experience substituting one year of post high school education (thirty semester or equivalent hours) with an emphasis in nursing and/or the social or behavioral sciences for one year of experience to a maximum substitute of one year.

Additional Qualification Requirements

Designated positions in this job class require applicants to obtain the required Commercial Drivers License and endorsements within a period of time as determined by the appointing authority at the time of hire.
