Alight Workday Manager (Payroll) - Virtual in Illinois, Illinois

Your candidacy is currently being considered for a requisition for an Alight Inc group company. As you may be aware, Alight has announced intent to divest its Payroll & Professional Services business to HIG Capital. After the transaction closes, this position will be aligned to the new Payroll & Professional Services owned by HIG Capital (‘Divested Group’). Alight Solutions is currently recruiting for a Workday Payroll Manager within our Cloud Optimization Practice area. We have an ever-expanding business pipeline and are seeking suitably skilled and interested candidates to help us build our practice in line with the growth of the Workday ecosystem.

As a Workday Functional Consultant, you will play a key role as part of an industry-leading team, helping to drive results for our clients by delivering innovative and effective solutions within our Professional Services business group.

Location is primarily home-based with travel to client sites (up to 20%)

As a Workday Manager - Payroll, a typical day to include the following:

  • Responsible for leading all stages of the project or task lifecycle for the client, from requirements definition gathering to project planning and implementation.

  • Liaison between clients and the internal staff to ensure effective coordination and delivery of Workday implementations.

  • Manage and guide a team of consultants

  • Ensure forecasts and billable time is entered timely and as accurately as possible for both you and your team.

  • Act as a SME or Domain Lead in one functional area of Workday

  • Work in a fast-paced environment that requires tasks to be completely quickly and accurately.

  • Use the methodology and processes to configure successfully while remaining agile and flexible to client changing needs.

  • Provide high level of customer service to ensure client is enthusiastic about Alight Solutions.

  • Leads projects through all stages of the project life cycle.

  • Leads discovery sessions to gather requirements to help refine Workday configuration.

  • Analyzes, defines, configures and documents complex business requirements and processes.

  • Lead configuration and business process walk through with the client.

  • Build and test Workday and ensure that all requirements meet the client needs.

  • Troubleshoot business processes, calculated fields, business logic, file loads and configuration.

  • Completes assigned tasks in prescribed timelines consistent with deliverables and asks for support and direction as appropriate.

  • Will lead, and perform people management responsibilities for, a team of consultants aligned to a Workday domain or domains.

  • Will support Director of client delivery as it relates to Resource Management & "domain lead" responsibilities such as PoV, methodology, semi-annual release, etc.

  • Responsible for assisting with the Triage process of new tasks or tickets.

  • Responsible for an individual utilization target as well as ensuring their team hits their own individual utilization targets as well.

Your Skills and Qualifications should reflect our values and will include:

  • 7 plus years previous experience configuring or implementing Workday Payroll systems. Additional experience may include PeopleSoft, SAP, ADP, Oracle E-Business, Ultipro or other SaaS software solutions.

  • Previous consulting experience either as an internal consultant or with a consulting/software organization is preferred.

  • Possesses strong facilitation/presentation skills.

  • Understands the scope and details of project plan and is able to identify and communicate the need for resources for tasks or assigned areas of responsibility.

  • Understands IT impact to the overall business and the purpose and process of operating plans.

  • Prioritizes and multi-tasks, responding with a sense of urgency to immediate needs.

  • High attention to detail with innate need to dig in and solve complex issues and thoroughly test solutions.

  • Works well in a team, willing to help others and share information to create a collaborative working environment.

  • Experience in transforming business requirements into complex system configurations.

  • Ability to be effectively and actively engaged on multiple, parallel projects. Time management and organizational skills are required for success.

  • Demonstrates ability to prioritize conflicting demands with little supervision.

  • Demonstrates strong work ethics, setting an example for others.

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.

  • Proficient to advanced MS Excel Skills to be used to transform data (advanced formulas).

  • Current Workday certification or Workday Pro Certification for Workday Payroll preferred.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in technical, business, or financial discipline or relevant field of study required.

Salary Pay Range

Minimum :

112,700 USD

Maximum :

178,900 USD
