NY1495745 Process Engineer/Technician. Full time for Acorn Products Corp. in Ilion, NY. SUMMARY: *The ideal candidate will be able to effectively lead our current process team to increase efficiency across our plant. They should also possess a friendly demeanor so they can effectively interact with office visitors and other employees. We are looking for someone who would be a part of our organization as we begin to expand. Engineering experience would be greatly appreciated, but not necessary. As a plastics company, there will be an expected learning curve, but we have plenty of great employees to help you get acclimated. A "we" mindset is extremely important to us at Acorn Products. RESPONSIBILITIES: Install and debug all new injection molding equipment while documenting all findings per company procedure. Oversee all auxiliary & facility equipment that correlates with injection molding processes. Review fill, pack, warp, and cooling analytics to make informed, data driven design decisions. Review all customer design inputs such as cycle time, mold finishes, press / barrel selection, automation requirements, electrical standards, etc. Work on multiple projects in various stages of production. Effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and customers. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Manage all cost requests and establish procedural, maintenance, and/or safety documentation for various processes. Consistently diagnose and solve common injection molding issues. QUALIFICATIONS: 3 plus years of experience in an injection molding environment, with emphasis on process problem solving Solid understanding of Plastic Part Design / Injection Molding Guidelines. Knowledgeable in the use of 3D CAD packages & Data Analysis software. Rheology knowledge for various Crystalline & Amorphous resins. Demonstrated ability to guide and coordinate vendor tool design and sampling activities to meet requirements of the application and DRM guidelines. Understands limits / fits, tolerance stack up analysis. Understanding of Geometric Dimensional Tolerancing (GDT) and application for inspection setup and tolerancing allowances of molded components. Development of part fixturing and measurement correlation. Development of characterization protocols and reports (including structured DOE evaluation). Provide technical assistance and guidance to suppliers and contract manufacturers performing qualification and validation testing. Use and understanding of Statistical Tools (Design of Experiments, Measurement System Analysis/Gage R&R, Process Capability and Statistical Process Control). Use of Society of Plastics Industry Standards (SPI) for mold build classification and texture/surface appearance recognition. Pay starts at $24.00/hour. Must pass a criminal background check and drug screening. This is a full time position M-F 8am-4:30 pm. We offer 401K, health insurance, vacation, holiday, and personal time off.
