GuideOne Insurance Accountant - On site or Hybrid Opportunity in IA, United States

As the Accountant, you will be responsible for the monthly balancing of the claims accounts and the preparation of various account reconciliations. You will be accountable for preparation and filing of statistical and financial data calls to various state and statistical agencies. In addition, you will also be responsible for the fixed asset accounting for The Mutual Group.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the monthly balancing of the claims accounts.

  • Prepares account reconciliations on a timely basis according to the established accounting policy.

  • Prepare and file statistical and financial data calls to state agencies and statistical agencies on or before the established due date. Ensure all data elements are complete and in the format, required by those organizations.

  • Responsible for the fixed asset accounting and reporting for The Mutual Group.

  • Assists others in the department with various accounting and statutory reporting requirements (annual statement, quarterly statement, supplemental reporting).

  • Other duties as assigned.

    Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field or equivalent combination of training and/or experience.

  • Three to five years of work experience.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Microsoft suite knowledge including strong Excel skills.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills.

  • Ability to convey clear, concise information to others, using verbal or other appropriate communication techniques.

  • Ability to compose written correspondence and factual reports which are well-organized and concise.

  • Ability to take independent actions.

  • Ability to problem solve.

    Recommended Qualifications:

  • Experience using SQL is a plus.

  • Experience using Workday is a plus.
