Google Staff Software Engineer, Cloud Observability, Uptime Monitoring in Hyderabad, India

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

  • 8 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, and with data structures/algorithms.

  • 5 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.

  • 5 years of experience with full stack development, across back-end (e.g., Java, Python, Golang, or C++ codebases), and front-end experience including JavaScript or TypeScript, HTML, CSS or equivalent.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.

  • 1 year of experience in a technical leadership role.

  • Experience with Google privacy and security infrastructure (e.g., Gin, RpcSecurityPolicy, and IAM).

  • Knowledge of distributed systems and observability concepts.

  • Passion for Observability and helping Cloud developers and operators.

Cloud Observability within Google Cloud Platform enables GCP customers to manage reliable systems at global scale. The team designs and builds services that empower GCP customers to monitor systems. This team’s mission is to provide customers with an easy way to test the availability, consistency, and performance of their services, applications, web pages, and APIs.

  • Provide technical guidance, leadership, and mentorship to a team of engineers.

  • Transition project ownership for Uptime Monitoring to the team.

  • Establish and maintain technical standards, ensuring code quality, reliability, and performance.

  • Engage with product managers and other engineering teams to align with overall Cloud Observability product goals and strategies.

  • Communicate technical details, progress, and roadmaps to stakeholders across different levels of the organization.
