Amazon Sr. Program Manager, Catalog Discovery Trust in Hyderabad, India

Catalog Discovery Trust (CDT) protects customer trust (customers, brand owners and seller) by detection and prevention of abuse of our stores. We do this by: (a) removing product listings that violate Amazon policies; (b) prevent bad actors from creating abusive product listings and (c) improving good actor/seller experience. We also support a variety of partner teams with bias for action to address PR or legal issues related to abuse in Amazon stores through quick diagnose and mitigation of risk immediate issues and close loop on the root cause identified. CDT is looking for people who are passionate about helping protect customers, brand owners and sellers on Amazon Stores. Plus, ensuring brand owners and sellers using Amazon are successfully listing and selling their products.

We are seeking a high-judgement Senior Program Manager to manage the CDT gating governance program by partnering across SPS and non-SPS teams that take Gating actions on ASIN/Offers for Seller/Brand/Vendors. Gating is a rule-based mechanism to proactively or reactively enforce a seller listing with the intention of driving compliance to policies and preventing catalog abuse by bad actors. The program aims to standardize all aspects of seller experience from the gating action across data, process, seller/vendor central dashboard experience, appeal/remediation paths, measuring accuracy of these actions and reducing the instances of this action.

This role requires working with risk managers, business owners, and tech teams to define strategy, requirements, and align on goals (2023 and YoY thereafter) for this program. This role will own resolving roadblocks for the team, provide escalation management, own regular communication with leadership (including program updates), make tradeoffs, and balance the business needs within constraints.

The ideal candidate is able to influence and gain buy-in from tech, and policy stakeholders, and seamlessly deliver in an ambiguous environment. Problem-solving, cross-team coordination, program management, executive communication, and organizational skills are essential to be successful in this role.

This position combines global strategic thinking with hands-on planning and oversight, and is a great opportunity for candidates who are looking to gain product experience, while leveraging their program management skills. This candidate will be part of a fast pacing and entrepreneurial team, and be tasked with building trust over time by launching new processes and developing novel means to measure progress.

Key job responsibilities

• Mitigate risk and stop bad actors by building solutions and setting policies that control how sellers are sell on Amazon. This role will work closely with policy, legal, finance, and tech stakeholders.

• Own and communicate strategic vision, updates, goals, policy changes and roadmap to stakeholders and senior leaders. Routinely author documents: PRFAQ’s, Working Backwards, BRD’s, WBR’s/MBR’s/QBR’s, Program Updates etc.

• Deliver results and execute multiple high-visibility initiatives simultaneously. Make data-driven tradeoffs to maintain strategic deliverables.

• Operate with a high degree of independence. This role requires a curious, self-starting, fast learner who thrives in ambiguous, challenging spaces.

• Set and achieve challenging goals to solve problems. Drive efficiency improvements by eliminating non-value add processes and introducing automation to maximize impact.

• Develop solutions that scale in a resource constrained environment. Proactively launch mechanisms and build processes that address future challenges.

• Extensively build trust with cross-organizational stakeholders. Use data to influence without authority and drive consensus at all levels of an organization.

• Expertly quantify impact with best-in-class analytics and investigation techniques. Advanced Excel skills are a minimum expectation (Advanced SQL is a plus).

Your program meets challenging business goals and/or shows measurable improvements in your customer’s experience, business or employee efficiency or execution, compliance adherence, financial or other metrics, etc.

• Understand the interdependencies of the business problems you help solve (e.g., aligned workflows, customer requirements, process limitations, legal or compliance requirements, program support, etc.).

• Influence team priorities and business strategy through data-driven contributions. You are able to make a case for project priorities, resource allocation, and/or appropriate program adoption, to achieve a desired business outcome, resolve a deficiency, or unblock delivery.

• Communicate ideas effectively, verbally and in writing, to a wide range of audiences including Directors and VPs. You foster a constructive dialogue, harmonize discordant views, and lead the resolution of contentious issues (build consensus). You partner successfully with customers, stakeholders, and engineering teams.

• Routinely and efficiently deliver the right things. You define clear goals and objectives. You drive crisp decisions in your program area about what projects move forward and in what priority order. You proactively identify risks and bring them to the attention of your team and stakeholders with plans for mitigation before they become roadblocks.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams experience

  • 5+ years of program or project management experience

  • 5+ years of delivering cross functional projects experience

  • Experience defining program requirements and using data and metrics to determine improvements

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of driving process improvements experience

  • Master's degree, or MBA in business, operations, human resources, adult education, organizational development, instructional design or related field
