We are a part of Azure Core organization and have complete ownership of Azure Backup Service whose mission is to be the data protection platform for all workloads running both in Azure and on the Managed Edge and help in making Azure, the cloud of choice for all Enterprise customers to run their production workloads on.

Azure Backup has already had a hockey stick growth in terms of managing more than half an exabyte of data and providing data protection for various cloud and hybrid workloads but we are at a cusp of building a truly general data protection platform which will serve as the foundation to help protect any workload (VMs, Containers, SQL, OSS Databases, File Server, Blobs etc.) running on any cloud (private, hosted, Azure, etc.) and hypervisor (Hyper-V, VMware). We are building a highly scalable multitenant layered architecture solution, consisting of loosely coupled micro services integrated with Azure Portal that allows customers to centrally and consistently manage and monitor workloads across all clouds in a single pane.

Responsibilities

• Partners with appropriate stakeholders to determine user requirements for a set of scenarios.

• Leads identification of dependencies and the development of design documents for a product, application, service, or platform.

• Leads by example and mentors others to produce extensible and maintainable code used across products.

• Leverages subject-matter expertise of cross-product features with appropriate stakeholders (e.g., project managers) to drive multiple group's project plans, release plans, and work items.

• Holds accountability as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI), mentoring engineers across products/solutions, working on-call to monitor system/product/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions.

• Proactively seeks new knowledge and adapts to new trends, technical solutions, and patterns that will improve the availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products while also driving consistency in monitoring and operations at scale and shares knowledge with other engineers.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 10+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

• OR equivalent experience

Other Requirements:

• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: 

• Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in data structures and algorithms

• Experience as a technical leader with 10+ years of experience with designing, developing and testing software systems or services

• Experience with object oriented programming or Managed code

• Experience for large scale storage systems or distributed computing or Cloud Services

• Experience with mentoring and architecting systems that spans the work of several engineers

• Experience with creating impact and influencing at a product level
