Brief Job Overview

This is a non-supervisory position responsible to Plan, implement, and coordinate the policies and procedures surrounding the Environment, Health, and Safety of the USP India facility and the personnel. A role where proactiveness is a key requirement and incumbent is expected to handle Environment, Health, and Safety related requirements for India Sites in coordination with Team Lead EHS. The incumbent will be also participating in various initiatives on Sustainability & Environment, Social & Governance (ESG) for the organization.

How will YOU create impact here at USP?

  • Assist Team Lead - EHS in implementing Environment, Health and Safety systems and practices, policies, and procedures.

  • Organize EHS & ESG promotional activities and campaigns to create safety culture and ESG awareness.

  • Ensure up to date Environment, Health, and Safety regulatory permits and authorization are in place. This includes all relevant air, water, wastewater, hazardous chemicals and solid/ hazardous/ biomedical/ e-waste/ plastic waste management and safety - construction and operating permits. Prepare and maintain all records and reports.

  • Ensure all the environmental monitoring performed on time and reports submission to state pollution control board as per legal/ regulatory requirements.

  • Dispose the hazardous and non-hazardous waste to authorized vendors.

  • Co-ordinate with waste disposal officers for disposal of generated waste and monitor hazardous waste storage room.

  • Collect, clean and analysis EHS & ESG data and prepare EHS MIS reports and presentations.

  • Participate in various Environment, Social, Governance (ESG) initiatives.

  • Conduct risk assessment, EAIA, JSA, PPE assessments for activities.

  • Plan and execution of industrial hygiene programs as per workplace requirements.

  • Preparing EHS annual training calendar, perform training need identification (TNI) for the employees and imparting sessions as scheduled to increasing awareness among the employees.

  • Ensure that all Near Misses and Incidents are reported, investigated and CAPA implemented.

  • Conduct EHS walkthroughs in floor and ensure observations are closed with correct CAPA.

  • Facilitate internal and external audits and initiate appropriate actions, improvements as per the recommendations.

  • Monitor and maintain Occupational Health Center and Ambulance.

  • Ensure assigned daily, weekly, and monthly EHS tasks are completed on time.

  • Ensure the contractor safety management system and work permit system implemented at site.

  • Interaction with Global EHS Team as necessary.

Who USP is Looking For?

The successful candidate will have a demonstrated understanding of our mission, commitment to excellence through inclusive and equitable behaviors and practices, ability to quickly build credibility with stakeholders, along with the following competencies and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or Environment sciences or Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering.

  • Specialized course in Safety such as Diploma in industrial safety/NEBOSH/CSP

  • Must have knowledge in EHS legal and regulatory requirements and documentation.

  • Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in the field.

  • Experience in industrial hygiene is added advantage.

  • Prior experience in a scientific/chemical-based industry.

  • Must have experience in similar industry.

  • Able to work flexible hours when needed. In addition to normal business hours serves on the Emergency Response Team to provide 24 hour a day, 7 days a week response to emergency alarm calls and can be available on short notice to support requests during unusual hours, especially early or late in the day during the business week.
