Position Overview:

Chemonics International seeks a Senior Payroll Associate. The Senior Payroll Associates assist in the development of payroll policy and processes. They will be tasked with preparing and submitting payroll-related journal entries, adjusting employee statuses, facilitating special payments, researching and producing special reports, and preparing tax-related deposits. The Sr. Payroll Associate follows payroll policy and process and works under the payroll manager to make sure all policies and processes are effective, efficient, and in compliance.

Responsibilities:

· Process monthly and semi-monthly payroll with minimal supervision

  • Assist with development of policy and processes for posting semi-monthly payroll

  • Mentors and trains new hires to payroll team and acts as a proficient payroll administrator

  • Prepares and posts monthly payroll journals

  • Prepares and update paid-time off accrual liability

  • Prepares monthly payment schedule (net pay, tax, ESOP)

  • Run monthly payroll reports in ADP

  • Update and maintain allowances in Microsoft D365

  • Liaise with HR and benefits on payroll related matters

  • Complete payroll year end information for all payrolls

  • Reconciliation and reporting on payroll tax issues

  • Serves as acting manager when needed

  • Adding new hires and removing terminations from payroll

  • Reconcile payroll groups on a monthly basis

  • Assist with terminations calculations including redundancy

  • Other duties as assigned

    Requirements:

  • BA/BS degree in Accounting, Finance, business administration, or equivalent experience required.

  • Minimum 2-3 years’ of knowledge of payroll procedures.

  • Requires understanding of payroll concepts, practices and procedures.

  • Requires experience with computerized accounting systems.

  • ERP financials and ADP experience preferred.

  • Microsoft Word and Excel experience required.

  • Ability to work well both independently and to work collaboratively in teams.

  • Ability to effectively prioritize problems and manage multiple requests/expectations

  • Recognized as a team member who is actively involved in problem solving, while maintaining an excellent attitude contributing to the high morale of the team.

  • Excellent interpersonal and written communications skills. Commitment to excellent customer service by providing support via phone, web, and email; as well as team-oriented interaction with all.

  • Requires the ability to work in an area requiring special attention to detail and regular monthly deadlines.

  • Requires ability to handle highly confidential company and employee expense information with appropriate level of professionalism and sensitivity.

    The Salary Range for this position is expected to be: $55,760 - $69,700.

    An employee’s pay position will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, performance, shift, travel requirements, and business or organizational needs.

Overtime exemption status may change due to state regulatory requirements.
