Job Description:

If you’ve developed using a variety of technologies, with experience of Ruby on Rails in the last five years, and a keen interest in learning new programming languages and tools, we want to hear from you.

Our technology stack is Ruby on Rails on our main live applications but on the client-side we also use JavaScript web frameworks – React.js, Redux. Relational (MySQL) and non-relational databases (AWS Dynamo DB), RESTful API design. You will also use technologies such as AWS Lambda, AWS API Gateway, AWS S3, … to name but a few.

* This is a hybrid role - you will be based in our Newcastle office for 3 days a week. *

Key Responsibilities:

Your key responsibilities will be:

· Develop, deliver, maintain and implement high quality technical solutions

· Be involved in functions/features or services as defined by the development team

· Participate in all phases of the project lifecycle

· Maintain relevant documentation to describe logic, coding/configuration, testing and changes where applicable

· Continuously strive to make improvements to the existing products and/or systems and services

· Participate in two-way feedback that continuously improves outcomes

· Ensure all tasks are completed to the required quality standards

· Keep up to date with relevant technology areas

· Discuss and design technical solutions with the team

Skills, know-how and experience:

• Ruby on Rails

• JavaScript (using any commercial framework: React, jQuery, Angular, …)

• Ability to interpret user requirements and translate these into technical specifications

• Fluent in English

• High numerical reasoning and logic ability with good problem-solving skills

• Knowledge of one or more relevant programming languages, frameworks and databases

• Service-oriented architecture experience

• Team player and collaborator

• Best coding principles

• Troubleshooting and problem-solving expertise.
