Cape Organization for Rights of Disabled Youth Services Coordinator in Hyannis, Massachusetts
The Youth Services Coordinator will oversee & implement services for both the Transition to Adulthood Program (TAP) & the Work Readiness & Preparation (WRAP) programs. This position involves working with students with disabilities aged 14-21 enrolled in high school or post-secondary educational programs, helping them develop independent living goals, employment readiness skills, & workplace exposure opportunities. Each task is aligned with either TAP or WRAP to ensure contract compliance & program-specific outcomes. This position is subject to a CORI check. Essential Functions by Program: Transition to Adulthood Program (TAP): Review Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) to ensure adequate transition services & to advocate for student rights. Work with students individually to establish & achieve independent living goals, focusing on employment readiness, financial literacy, & personal management. Engage participants in social & recreational activities that support independent living skills. Conduct outreach to schools & community organizations to recruit TAP participants. Facilitate informational workshops for students, families, school personnel, & service providers. Develop at least two community advocacy efforts annually focused on disability rights or educational access. Provide regular program updates via newsletters & social media. Ensure 100% of family members are invited to participate in a family-focused event. Work Readiness & Preparation (WRAP): Conduct outreach to recruit a minimum of 25 participants annually & maintain referrals from MassAbility?s Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors. Provide soft skills training, workplace readiness, job exploration counseling, & self-advocacy training. Develop & adapt curriculum to meet participant needs in both virtual & in-person formats. Secure a minimum of 15 internship or job shadowing placements annually by building relationships with businesses. Monitor & support participants during internships, including conducting bi-weekly check-ins with employers. Create & distribute outreach & marketing materials for the internship program targeting students, families, & businesses. Provide counseling on post-secondary education & training opportunities. Shared Functions (TAP & WRAP): Develop & implement lesson plans for group & individual instruction. Conduct regular assessments of participants to track progress & update records. Maintain detailed & timely documentation for both programs. Arrange for reasonable accommodations & effective communication for participants. Participate in organizational fundraising activities. Program Outcomes & Requirements: TAP: At least 90% of participants will establish Independent Living (IL) goals within one month of enrollment. At least 75% will make progress toward IL goals & participate in a community advocacy effort. WRAP: 80% of participants must successfully complete all WRAP services. At least 75% of participants will secure a referral to Vocational Rehabilitation services. At least 75% will complete an internship or job shadowing experience. Primary Qualifications: Must be familiar with local resources for transitioning students. Must have working knowledge of special education & disability-related employment laws. Must have great organizational skills. Must possess excellent verbal & written communication skills. Ability to teach & interact through diverse technological social platforms (e.g., Zoom, Facebook, Instagram, & others as required). Proficient in basic computer programs such as MS Word & able to learn database software. Experience working with diverse populations & skill levels. Ability to travel across Cape Cod & to the Islands, with occasional off-Cape travel. Must be able to work occasional nights & weekends to accommodate student schedules. Experience in program coordination, youth services, or educational advocacy preferred.
