General Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Homeland Security Studies, including but not limited to Security Studies, Public Policy, Political Science, or related field. Master’s degree preferred. Knowledge and skill in applying principles and practices of project management, basic and applied research methods, and related fields of operations. Eight years of combined experience working in one or more of the following Critical Infrastructure (CI) areas: Transportation, Energy, Chemical, Healthcare, Information Technology, Water/Wastewater, Critical Manufacturing, or Commercial Facilities or in a related field. Experience in a leadership/management role in a company or government agency preferred. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.

Nature & Purpose of Position/Usual Duties:

Manages and directs the support staff and budget for IHS . Supports research and education activities in one or more CI areas. These activities include the development of professional education courses, leading CI protection collaboration events, and facilitating applied research to inform policies, procedures, and practices for CI resiliency strategies. Oversees projects and coordinates with researchers, public organizations, private industry, and consultants. Ensures projects are on schedule and within the prescribed budget. Will facilitate public and private partnerships in one or more of the CI areas.

Primary Responsibilities (Staff Positions Only):

Directs day-to-day project activities for support and administrative staff. Supports major projects to ensure deliverables are achieved. Responsible for identifying additional sources of funding for the Institute. Works closely with the Executive Director and Deputy Director to review and assess the outputs of the Institute, determine strategic direction, and to develop educational, informational, and research products produced by the Institute. Other specific duties would relate directly to assigned projects. Performs other related duties as assigned.
