General Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in business, Computer Science, Information Systems or related field. Four years of software applications administration experience or experience in a related field preferably in a higher education or public sector environment. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.

Nature & Purpose of Position/Usual Duties:

Performs complex tasks administering the daily e-commerce operations for Procurement and Business Services. Oversees the department’s eProcurement applications; Jaggaer, Emburse-Chrome River, and Payment Works and their interface with the University’s ERP system, BANNER . Supports procurement and university staff by; analyzing procurement data, producing detailed financial reports related to procurement, and other duties to support the department’s goal of generating procurement savings. Role requires a close working relationship with the University’s IT department and understanding of their processes.

Primary Responsibilities (Staff Positions Only):

Manages day-to-day operations of Jaggaer, Emburse-Chrome River, and Payment Works applications. Works with the Director, Associate, and Assistant Directors of Procurement and Business Services to ensure the various eProcurement systems provide an accurate, timely and valuable return on investment to the University. Oversees the work of campus end users within the eProcurement systems, along with Procurement staff. Provides frequently asked questions information for monthly/quarterly finance publications and updates printed or electronic materials. Provides technical support to end-users, troubleshoot issues, and ensure timely resolution. Collaborates with IT@SAM to ensure proper integration with University systems and applications, troubleshoot problems, develop and implement test plans, perform regular system maintenance, including updates, patches, and backups. Serves as the university point of contact with vendors concerning ongoing upgrades, implementation of new features, and process improvements. Liaison between vendors and IT@SAM on issues. Optimizes system performance and functionality to meet the evolving needs of the university. Integrates, where possible, the applications with other university systems to streamline processes and data flow. Collaborates with vendors and internal stakeholders to implement enhancements and customizations. Evaluates Sam Houston State University ( SHSU ) purchases to identify potential new vendors for addition to the Jaggaer marketplace. Develops, updates, and delivers training programs for end-users and technical staff. Creates, updates, and maintains comprehensive documentation, including system configurations, workflows, and procedures. Ensures applications comply with university policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements. Monitors system security and implements measures to protect sensitive financial and procurement data. Works closely with IT@SAM and the Office of Internal Audit to ensure appropriate controls are in place. Leads and participates in projects related to system upgrades, migrations, and implementations. Coordinates with cross-functional teams to ensure project goals are met within established timelines and budgets. Performs other related duties as assigned.
