SAIC is actively seeking a Technical Writer with a strong emphasis on producing clear, concise, and accurate documentation for site upgrades and technology refresh projects to join our team in Huntsville, Alabama.

This individual will be instrumental in bridging the gap between complex technical processes and end-user comprehension, ensuring that upgrade instructions, technical guidelines, and procedural documents support the smooth transition to updated systems and technologies. The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in technical writing, with specific experience in documenting IT infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and refreshes.

Responsibilities :

• Collaborate with project managers, IT technicians, and systems engineers to understand the scope and details of site upgrades and tech refresh projects.

• Create detailed instructions and guidelines for site upgrades and technology refresh initiatives that can be easily followed by technical and non-technical staff.

• Produce high-quality documentation that meets applicable standards and is appropriate for its intended audience.

• Simplify complex information into clear, concise text with the use of flowcharts, diagrams, and other visual aids.

• Maintain a comprehensive library of technical terminology and documentation.

• Continually update and improve existing documentation to reflect any changes in processes or upgrades.

• Coordinate with technical teams to validate steps and procedures in the documentation.

• Translate technical and procedural information into layman’s terms for training materials, FAQs, and help files.

• Manage updates and revisions to technical literature.

• Draft communication materials as needed to inform stakeholders of upcoming changes due to site upgrades and tech refresh projects.

Qualifications

Required Education :

Bachelors and three (3) or more years of experience; MBA and one (1) or more years experience; four (4) years of experience considered in lieu of degree.

Qualifications :

• Experience as a technical writer, preferably in the IT industry.

• Proven experience documenting IT infrastructure upgrades, technology refreshes, or similar projects.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail.

• Proficient in creating visual aids like diagrams and flowcharts (experience with tools like Visio or similar).

• Strong ability to understand and document complex technical information and processes.

• Experience with documentation management systems and content management tools.

• Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and gather information from subject matter experts.

• Adept at prioritizing and managing multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

• Familiarity with the software development life cycle (SDLC) and IT service management (ITSM) concepts is a plus.

Clearance :

Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a full Secret clearance; Minimum of an Interim Secret clearance required to start.
