Jacobs ESSCA Group Systems Engineer - SLS to EGS Interfaces #ADV0008KL in Huntsville, Alabama

Provide engineering support for the Space Launch System (SLS) Integrated Spacecraft and Payload Evolution (ISPE) element interfaces with the Exploration Ground Systems (EGS) at Kennedy Space Center. This position directly supports the SLS to EGS Interfaces Sublead on behalf of the Systems Design and Definition Branch (EV72). This support will include participation in engineering reviews, Technical Interchange Meetings (TIMs), technical performance meetings, teleconferences, working groups and trade studies.

Provide system functional design and integration support for SLS ISPE to EGS interfaces

Perform technical integration across SLS elements, diverse engineering and program organizations, and a variety of engineering disciplines such as structures, power, avionics and human engineering

Assist in the development of the interface design and negotiate resolution of open requirements, issues, and concerns to ensure closure within the corresponding organizational schedule allowance

Supply inputs to key systems engineering products for milestones and provide technical insight for these reviews and events

Assist in technical evaluations of verification closure data and rationale

Lead technical change requests through the SLS board process, including development of redline changes, disposition of comments, and briefing results to board members.

Job Requirements:

A degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Systems Engineering or a related technical discipline synergistic with system design is required. A degree from an ABET accredited university is desired. Typically, educational requirements are the equivalent of a BS with at least 5 years of relevant experience.

Required:

Knowledge of complex systems engineering life cycle end-to-end development ranging from requirements development, functional design, hardware integration, and requirements verification

Excellent oral, written, interpersonal, customer relation skills, and presentation skills

Intermediate skills using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)

Personality traits indicating a self-motivated, effective team player, familiar with working in a dynamic work environment

Desired:

An understanding of the current SLS program and working knowledge of the SLS vehicle or EGS

Basic skills using requirements management database tools such as DOORS Next Generation

Experience developing and delivering executive level briefings

Negotiation skills demonstrated through technical problem solving, and the ability to breakdown problems or issues into manageable pieces
