Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Manager Material Handling 1 . This position is located in Huntsville, AL and supports the Sentinel program.

What You’ll Get To Do:

  • Supervises employees who use a variety of equipment such as forklifts, conveyers, cranes, handcarts, and power trucks to move materials, parts, assemblies, and finished products or goods within a plant, office, or warehouse.

  • Oversees the processing, packaging, and storage of supplies, materials, and equipment.

  • May assist in selecting appropriate containers and wrapping methods for materials to be shipped or stored.

  • Coordinates with engineers, shippers, carton manufacturers, and carpenters for special crating and packing requirements.

  • Supervises employees who maintain records and check invoices/bills of lading.

  • Plans, schedules and manages the efficient movement of material from receiving and/or the warehouse to production.

  • Supports the fulfillment of material and scheduling requirements.

  • Provide direction to all subordinates using established policies and precedents and ensure subordinate work is reviewed for adequacy in meeting cost and quality objectives.

  • Manage effort to consolidate part delivery data sets for use in ensuring parts are received, stored, retrieved, kitted and delivered to MFG.

  • Manage and oversee receipt, storage and issuance of Ammunition and Explosives (A&E) Knowledge of Commercial shipping practices including small parcel and freight and experience with various Transportation systems such as FedEx and UPS.

  • Knowledge/Certification in DOT and IATA regulations, Hazmat certified.

  • Coordinate interdepartmental activity with quality assurance, manufacturing, purchasing, engineering, inventory control, traffic, etc.; to expedite the movement of parts and tooling by means of move orders, stock transfers and requests for shipping orders.

  • May perform ongoing operational tasks of organizational groups or be assigned to teams working on sector level tasks, projects or process changes/improvements.

  • Frequent contacts with internal personnel and outside customer representatives at various management levels concerning operations or scheduling or parts management issues specific to the build of the product lines.

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

  • AA Degree or 4 additional years of experience in lieu of degree and 5 years minimum years of experience.

  • At least 1 year experience leading projects or cross-functional teams.

  • Experience presenting to senior/executive level management

  • Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

  • Ammunition and Explosives (A&E) Certification

  • DOT and IATA Certification

  • Knowledge of The Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS)

  • Familiarity and experience with audits from Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA), Defense Contract Management Agency Safety (DCMAS), Defense Contract

  • Management Agency Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA), ISO9000

Salary Range: $90,700 - $136,100

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
