We are seeking a professional Senior Advanced Electrical Design Engineer to assume a key role in helping Rocky Research, which is our wholly owned subsidiary of Honeywell, support directed energy projects for the military. You will design, analyze (including thermal considerations), simulate, and test power conversion circuitry. You will utilize any standard power conversion topologies such as (buck, boost, Full-Bridge Phase Shift ZVT), input and output filtering, analog circuits such as amplifiers, and pre-charge circuits.
You will also design assemblies with wiring harnesses and work closely with 3D CAD designers on placement and layout of electrical components such as contactors, off-the-shelf power supplies, terminal blocks, etcetera. You will design requirements to meet system needs. You will work with technical subject matter experts to derive performance requirements.

Salary Range: $109,000 to $163,000

Key Responsibilities
Guide Electronic Computer-Aided Design (ECAD) personnel through PWB layout of power circuitry and technical drawing creation, or preferably do your own layout and drawing creation
Perform design work within the bounds of a given schedule
Test performance of designs compared to requirements and analyze results
Generate design artifacts/documentation regarding analysis and hardware performance
Present reviews of technical data to program leadership and technical staff
You Must Have
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering, or mathematics
Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in design, analysis, simulation, and/or test experience with power conversion
Experience with design, analysis, and/or test with analog electronic design
Preferred Qualifications
MS in Engineering
Design, analysis, and/or test experience with any of the following isolated converter topologies: full-bridge phase shift ZVT, flyback, half-bridge, and/or push-pull
Scope will ideally include stability
Design, analysis, and/or test experience with full-bridge phase shift ZVT and voltages > 400V and/or power > 10kW
Transformer and inductor design considerations, FET, BJT, and/or Op-amp circuits
Experience designing and charging lithium-ion batteries and motor drivers
PWB layout tools and circuit simulators such as LTSPICE
Digital power control and military specifications (-1275, -704, -810, -461, -464, MIL-PRF-GCS600A)
Experience with grounding schemes, and wiring diagram schematics
Ability to design to meet concerns of adjacent disciplines, such as thermal, structural, mechanical, reliability, and quality
