The Army Platforms Department (N217) mission is to provide world class engineering to rapidly migrate the U.S. Army from operational concepts through technology exploration and innovation to the fielding of integrated solutions that provide an asymmetric advantage. Key sponsors of the Department work program include PEO Missiles and Space and PEO Aviation (Huntsville, AL), PEO Ground Combat Systems and the Ground Vehicle Support Center (Ann Arbor, MI), JPEO Ammunition and Armament (Picatinny Arsenal, NJ), Army Test and Evaluation Command (Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD) and JPEO Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Defense (Edgewood, MD). Job Description:

The Army Platform Department is seeking a technically deep and operationally-oriented Project Leader for the PEO Missiles and Space project located in Huntsville, AL. The project leader will be responsible for delivery of innovative high-impact/high-quality solutions for our sponsor’s critical mission problems while also building and growing sponsor relationships. The current project focuses on model-based systems engineering, digital transformation, digital engineering, cybersecurity, and independent assessments. This position is open to qualified lead step and above applicants.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Primary interface to multiple senior sponsors within PEO Missiles and Space

• Build and maintain relationships with PEO MS’s senior leaders

• Define and lead fast-paced, high impact work in the areas of systems engineering, concept development, cyber security, prototyping and integration

• Staff and lead a diverse 4 staff year MITRE team

• Grow MITRE support in high-impact areas that we currently do not have direct support

• Enable the sponsor’s mission through the delivery of concise, impactful technical deliverables, briefings, reports, and Executive level recommendations to senior sponsors

• Collaborate external to MITRE with PEO MS and their stakeholders (e.g., Software, Simulation, Systems Engineering and Integration Directorate (S3I), Air and missile defense Cross Functional Team (CFT) as well as contractors

• Collaborate internally with MITRE Project Leads, Department Manager, and Chief Engineer

• Through deep understanding of PEO MS mission, provide thought leadership and clear, timely, actionable recommendations in multiple areas focused on systems engineering, Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD), and cybersecurity strategies.

Basic Qualifications:

• Typically, requires a minimum 10 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 8 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 5 years’ experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience

• Degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline

• Extensive experience with Mission Engineering, System of Systems Engineering, and Digital Engineering

• Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering artifacts in SysML or UML

• Familiarity with cyber security strategies

• Knowledge of Integrate Air and Missile Defense mission

• Experience working with DoD

• Adept at clearly communicating concise, actionable recommendations to Senior Leaders

• Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams

• Active Secret Clearance

• This position requires an onsite presence of 5 days a week

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working with the Army

• Knowledge of Army systems and Program Managers especially in the areas of systems engineering, cyber security, and interoperability

• Experience developing Model-Based Systems Engineering artifacts in SysML or UML and leading teams focused on System of Systems Engineering and integration

• Experience with AGILE framework

• Top Secret Clearance with ability to obtain SCI
