  • Under supervision performs a variety of engineering tasks which are broad in nature and are concerned with the design and implementation, including personnel, hardware, software and support facilities and/or equipment.
  • Performs with some latitude for un-reviewed actions and decisions.
  • Plans and performs engineering research, design development, and other assignments in conformance with design, engineering, and customer specifications.
  • Responsible for the technical/engineering part of a major project or a project of lesser complexity and importance than those normally assigned to a higher-level engineer.
  • Coordinates the activities of Technicians assigned to specific engineering projects. May perform other duties as assigned.
  • Serves as a specialist in the area of Systems Engineering, supporting efforts to integrate Avionics into multiple complex aircraft.
  • Supports development of hardware and software solutions and integration into aircraft programs (rotary/fixed wing, UAS), to include oversight of airworthiness qualification of avionics systems and subsystems.
  • Primary focus will be on Navigation related programs, such as GPS and Assured Position, Navigation, and Time (A-PNT) that require a knowledge of GPS architecture, technology, and avionics development to successfully field A-PNT capability to the warfighter.

A bachelors degree, or higher, in a technical or engineering discipline plus

years relevant experience.

Requires expertise in the airworthiness process for hardware and software, e.g. MIL-STD and civil processes, qualification process (military and civil airspace qualification processes, component qualification, system qualification, and flight qualification) writing/reviewing/estimating Statements of Work, development planning, and test planning, and tracking Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) progress.

Fielding and support planning (software loaders, TMs, planning production).

Frequent interactions with stakeholders (requirements community, aviation platform offices, test support) and support to programmatic leadership (developing technical plans, technical cost estimates, support budget planning, answering taskers).

The individual must demonstrate the character and temperament to work within the Government/contractor program office team, external stakeholders, and industry partners, to facilitate avionics platform integration and resolve associated functional and performance issues.
